Freezing Cold Wild Camp! | Camping Under The High Mountains!

Another overnight camp at Loch Dochard this time taking in some great views of the snow capped mountains!
Hi everyone! Welcome to the stunning Loch Dochard near the Bridge of Orchy! Me and Monty have always wanted to camp here and we finally got the opportunity to visit it.
After a 2 hour long walk from the cars we arrived at the small Loch and were rewarded with some incredible views with the sunset happening in the background.
Temperatures unfortunately dropped below freezing and the tent paid for it in the morning. The inner of the tent was soaking wet and the flysheet was frozen solid on both sides. It was definitely a night to forget.

I received my new tent the Fjallraven Abisko lite 1 yesterday and pitched it up in my mums garden, when I went to check she was ok (86 years old). I have a practice of checking all new tents out before I take them wild camping. I was going on Peak District for a wild camp tonight but me mum explained she had issues with the driveway entrance gates falling apart. So tonight cancelled and taking me tools to sort the gates out. Tomorrow I will hopefully do my first night out with the Fjallraven tent, duty always comes first with your parents. Love your videos, and hope to pop up to Scotland soon to camp (alway I like winter in Scotland best). Keep up the good work and most of all be safe!

Mostly down south near London. Think there is 30 million people in London alone. Just small villages and the odd large town once you drive past Stirling. ATB Gaz

Nice to see you out and about again Gaz, as for your friend having Covid and your runny eyes, first lockdown I did a lot of hospital work, at one point my eyes were itchy and my nose was runny and I had a bit of a sore belly, shook it of after a few days . . . Then all that winter my eyes were runny, its sounds like your immune system is working over time, my eyes don't run anymore. Sounds like your tent needs wind to breathe, the ice was probably acting like insulation in a weird sort of way, stopping the condensation wicking away, not a good advert for terra nova. Definitely worth visiting Gordon. You can approach some of the Munro’s from Loch Dochard and it does seem to be good so far. I’ll need to try the Munro’s this year at some point there. ATB Gaz

Wayfayrer is great for shorter walks and the taste is better than summit to eat any day. The weight unfortunately does let them down a little. The location was great and I’ll definitely be back again. Glad you’re enjoying my trips. Hopefully more to come this month. ATB Gaz

Condensation 😑. It just depends upon how the temp changes overnight mate👍. Camping low in the Glen's nr water will always put us in the Condensation zone,no matter what the tent. Great camp and narration too🦬👍

Thanks Adge. I intend on using this tent all year round on the hills in all weathers. Time will tell whether it will handle the wind but I think it should be fine.
