Great video Gaz, thanks for the mentions! I have to agree with you on thoise Firepot meals. Out of their whole range I can only recommend the Spice Pork Noodles, the rest is like the one Monty tried, bland and uninviting. I just knew that was going to get a three out of ten rating! 🤣 That's a nice new tent you have, looks like a cracker. Hopefully you will get good use out of it this winter. Hope to catch up with you soon. All the best, Jim

Good to see you both out. It’s funny, apart from one of the campsites on the WHW I’ve never actually camped on Loch Lomond either. There’s a few spots I fancied camping at along there. Especially closer to beinn Glas campsite. Couple of nice wee beaches. Can’t remember the name of the one I walked past that had fire pits already made up too, that’s handy for a winter camp. Catch you soon. ATVB Robert

Haven't camped at Loch Lomomd for years and years, I was a bit dubious as its always busy ( i suppose that's mostly the other side though) and the litter I've seen is appalling, but you seemed to have a great spot and very tranquil, The pulled pork on the cheese burger looked great, 👍👍 keep the videos coming.

I liked it when you said Monty Aproved lol Imagine that if go outdoors or some other retailers like food in a bag on a mountain, got Monty approved on their label. So if your reading this gaz must be a white out up in Scotland, because i live in sunny Wigan . . . That is a joke by the way, because its still trying to snow, now as i type, and a bit frozen under foot. Still you bought and upgraded to cooler winter camping gear, enjoy. May be next time do one of your wild camping cooking videos see if it can get Monty Aproved

The Monty approved meals has just randomly started happening this year. Think it’s funny to be honest. One thing for sure it won’t be fire pot getting the Monty approved label. It’s been very cold up in the Stirling area but where I live it’s been dry so we have avoided any precipitation. The new tent is good but my recent investments have been on the sleeping setup. Thermarest mats have been giving me problems recently so just trying other places like Rab and Nemo. I’m due to try another cooking video on the channel. Just finding the time to get out with Monty at the moment. ATB Gaz

I’ve seen the Abisko lite 1 on KZbin and was not that impressed with it to be honest. The Abisko lite 2 on the other hand is brilliant in winter. Might consider a footprint. I’ve used a footprint on the Hilleberg Soulo and it is good. ATB Gaz

Under a year ago I decided to move up from 1 person tents to a more spacious 2 person tent for winter use. After checking out what was available I decided on the Abisko Lite 2, it's relatively light weight, has plenty of room for 1 person also it's extremely quick and easy to put up. I've had it on the mountains in some seriously wet and windy conditions, it even had it's first go in snow a couple of nights ago, when I spent 16 hours on a summit in it, and I'm glad to say that so far I'm extremely happy with my decision. I'm only a shorty and I guess that helps as they are a fairly low profile tent as you've seen but the weather they can handle is fantastic and that's without the use of a second pole set. I think you'll enjoy it, though you seem to change your tents like I change my socks 😁
@GazTheExplorer
@GazTheExplorer Ай бұрын
I’m bad for changing my camping setup every winter. A couple years ago I would not bother about the size of the tent. It’s just in the recent months the extra space has made the long winter nights more enjoyable. The Abisko lite 2 will be my most used tent this winter. It’s got the perfect balance with it being fairly lightweight and easier to fit in the backpack. Pitching it is easy and quick even in the wind and then there’s plenty of inner space for 1 person. Vestibule is a little tight with the steep slope on the roof but the space for the gear inside the vestibule is still good. If I’m planning on doing any cooking then I still own the Nallo 2GT for the large vestibule should I need it. ATB Gaz

Yeh, I must admit I have also considered the abisko lite 2, but so far, I have felt I am more comfortable with less space with lower wind profile. But it really is horses for courses. If you have been able to find the choice that optimies all the issues overall then you are a happy camper. Hi Gaz. It’s interesting to see the enan out in those conditions. It’s just shows you that it’s a robust tent. I’ve not seen you in the southern cross for a while which I would imagine would have been better in these conditions? Also I’ve not seen much of the nallo 2 gt since you got that.

@@mulreid Thanks for your comment😃 I’ve not been out camping a lot recently which will probably explain why I’ve not been using the tents you have mentioned. The Nallo 2 Gt was bought only for winter use so there is a chance I will start using it again. The southern cross 1 will be out throughout this winter as well depending on the camp. I’ve been doing a lot of low level camps near the car with Monty and his puppy so it is a little pointless using a Hilleberg or terra nova tent. Thanks for your question. ATB Gaz
