You're a brave man to work on older plastic parts in the cold season. I normally just leave those for next spring, or if it's an emergency I work on them at the end of a long drive inside a heated garage.
@stevebarker66928 күн бұрын
This must be deja-vu. my 2007 LR3 has been blowing cold, probably most of the year but now i need heat, i didn't have it! I went thro' the blender motor checks just as you did and found the passenger side was faulty. Removed glove-box to access passenger servo, it was sticking so i 'fixed' it into heat mode. still no heat, but my issue was resolved by flushing the matrix through with a cleaner for a couple of hours. Problem solved, now got heat. I'm so glad i was lucky enough not to need to replace the matrix, such a lot of work. Great video guys !!

Very good video this week, changing a stereo is about as far as I dare to go into the mysteries of dashboard disassembly and C&V just nailed it easily. I just changed the oil/filter on my LC150, owing to stuck and rusty undertray bolts took 3 days and 90€ on a blow torch and tools….even LRTime has bits dropped and leftover bits so having that video camera going full time is a real help

I had the same problem with my LR3. My choice back then was a) pay the Dealership a couple grands to replace the heater or b) pay the non-LR mechanic very little to flush it backwards. I knew that b) would not _fix_ the problem, but it surely improved things. But thanks to your video I would probably attempt to c) fix it myself now. 👍

I think I would have figured out how to hook up a pump to circulate cleaning solution through that core before doing all that work. Also, since the pipes are visible in the passengers footwell it seems likely that cutting away some of the transmission tunnel would let you get the core out. Kudos to you for doing it the hard way/proper way.

Christian/Vera awesome video on the heater matrix, this reminds me of replacing the heater motor on a Volvo 240 series ,it was known as the worst to change in the industry, you must open both sides of the system to access the motor for the faint has dual shafts and a fan on each end, so it is much the same as this , just shy of all the electronics you dealt with removing and i lost the heat in my car driving to work this past Wednesday morning at 5am in -29 celsius temps here in Winnipeg and they also set record cold temps for this time of year in a few spots west of me one was -35.6 and the other was -37.4 celsius without the windchill, i was able to get the heat back in my car at work in our loading dock it was only 15 celsius which is better than -29 outdoors, when i do the fan on the Volvo over the the holidays i will attempt to heat the garage with 2 10,000 btu electric construction heaters i own, some heat is better than no heat in our climate 👍you work with the care and efficiency of a great mechanic and i am jealous of the lathe in your kitchen

Ice box? I drove a 1973 Dodge D series pickup for a couple of years. It started overheating so my dad "fixed it" and no longer had heat. During the ice storms in the winter of 1987 I had to stop and scrape ice from the outside AND inside of the windshield.
