It seems that there are different types of renewable diesel. As for HVO, some say that they get better performance in the car, others that they get worse performance in the car. but maybe it depends on the car's mapping? maybe especially if the car is not made for the high cetane content?

Seeing no one has answered your question, I’ll jump in. Is it safe for your vehicle? I bought a 2023 Silverado 3.0 Duramax a few months ago. I’ve been using R99 Union 76 RD exclusively since that time of purchase. My engine has been running great, my mileage is excellent, and my truck never seems to lose DEF. Engine noise is extremely quiet as well. As far as warranty issues? I’d say any manufacturer would need a clever attorney, should they attempt to void a warranty. First reason would be - them knowingly selling Diesel trucks in California, knowing the demand for RD is so strong. Chevy for example recommends Top Tier Diesel. Their is not a Top Tier diesel station within 500 miles from California, which makes it impossible to stay with the recommendations. RD is said to be an early replacement, it can be mixed with Diesel, and all of the properties show numbers even better then traditional diesel. In my opinion, it’s not only safe, it is by far a much better, cleaner diesel - than the traditional Diesel 2 commonly found.

You don’t have a CP4 fuel pump. Sonyou don’t care about the low lubrication provided by this formulation.

Does it say something in the user manual that you can instead use an additive and put it in the tank. Have you asked the car manufacturer or the car dealer Or the car repair shop that repairs cars of your brand

Renewable diesel is basically an engineered diesel. It was made to have a higher lubricity and cetane rating. Biodiesel is trash. If you watch a lot of diesel videos you’ll see people saying to stay away from it. Renewable Diesel isn’t the same thing. It’s much much better. It’s basically engineered to be better at all the points that petroleum diesel fails.

I have been doing alot of research for my MB sprinter van. It turn out renewable is the best diesel for any diesel motor.

Safe yes, and won't void your warranty. It is supposed to be a drop in replacement for ULSD meeting the same specifications. In my experience RD does not give the same MPG, I see lower MPG using Renewable diesel. I've been told it's because RD has lower BTU/Gal.

I think they are required to say 99 due to potential contaminates of traditional petroleum fuels in the trucks, tanks, etc.

Something between R80-95 and B5-20 would be ideal for lubricity, power, low smoke.

Better remember oil produces over 6,000 items from medical equipment to cell phones. Solar and wind produce one product electricity nothing else.
