French Direct and Indirect Object Pronouns - How to say HIM, HER, THEM, and IT in French

I have a question regarding your examples at 12:38 in the video. Why do we use "nous écrivons à Noah et Leo" instead of "nous écrivons aux Noah et Leo"? In the next example, "on lit aux enfants" we use 'aux' for the plural "enfants," whereas in the previous case, we use 'à'. This lesson was wonderful, i'm struggling with direct & indirect objects, so thank you so much 🌻

I have a question. You say that indirect objects are never things--always animals or people but If you say Elle ressemble a un arbre. Isn't "tree" an indirect object? I love your lessons and this one was wonderful. Thanks so much.

Ahhhhh I see what you mean! In this case, à is followed by a thing, and that prompts the use of another pronoun...Y!

Actually I think the last sentence is wrong, I have a source saying that if the indirect object is not a person or animal then it cannot be replaced by an indirect object pronoun but rather with y. So maybe it should be Je l'y donne ?
