Glad to see more amp swaps in speaker reviews. While speakers are certainly doing the lion's share of the character and presentation of your sound, it's interaction with supplied electronics certainly add a dimension of nuance that often gets overlooked.

How do these compare to the BR08 which you also listened to? Are they comparable?
@greymatterstome2 жыл бұрын
I have the Triangle Gaia floor standers. Similar to these but has the titanium horn tweeter. I have them in my listening room and haven't cared to switch them out in 3 years. Pair them with an amp slightly on the warm side and you are set. I have a feeling that for Z, the Triangle Lyr floor standers would be his cup of tea or whatever is his beverage of choice.

Whether it's front Port back Port or down-firing Port that isn't making the most impact on the Bass. It all has to do with physics, many drivers, larger drivers, larger cabinet. Ports have little impact compared to those aspects.
@ZReviews2 жыл бұрын
I am just speaking from a bit of experience . Back walls matter more with rear ported speakers.
@ryanschipp85132 жыл бұрын
@@ZReviews but you were speaking on both speakers being in the middle of the room and the port design making a significant difference. The ports aren't going to matter, is all about everything else I mentioned.
@aceofspades66672 жыл бұрын
@@ZReviews factually correct... I've had multiple rear firing port speakers and if you put near a corner or rear wall the bass sounds farty.
@ryanschipp85132 жыл бұрын
@@aceofspades6667 I'm not speaking about them near a wall. I'm referring to him talking about the port making a difference with the speakers in the middle of the room. Doesn't matter where the port is when they are away from the wall.
@abielpangga63142 жыл бұрын
exactly, it doesn't matter. Bass is mostly omnidirectional anyways. the only reason why the towers have more bass is well, because displacement.

How about these vs the Polks R700 about the same Price. These are a Sleeper Speaker?
@ManuelMedellin.2 жыл бұрын
Polk R700 are going to be the better speaker overall, but they are usually more expensive (1999 $ vs 1200 $ Borea) They do sound quite different though, R700 just have massive authority and scale of Bass, but Vocals are not gonna be pulled forward so much , because the nature of R700 is simply to be more of a "airy" "spacious" sounding speaker, rather than Detail centered like the Borea. Also Triangle speakers have insane clarity and tend to be brighter. Polk's tend to be very punchy but very neutral sounding. Both are different, and need to be auditioned to determine which Sound profile you prefer. if you have a large room I would take the R700 because of their insane Force. Small to mid sized room go with Triangle.

Have you tried them without the bottom plinth? I know its for time alignment but with the plinth they eat up a little too much floor space. I have a strange shape room and one speaker needs to go at the entrance of a hall. They will be used for HT only.

Awesome review, but do you think your Triangle Gaia Ez towers sound better for just a little more?
@robertmarshall7712 Жыл бұрын
I would say yes. I haven't actually heard them but I have the Esprit Titus EZ, same size drivers as the Gaias and they sound so good that their sound still astounds me more than a year after getting them. It's the titanium dome tweeter which is magical but never sharp sounding.

Sure the Benchmark is SOTA, but you don't have to spend that kind of money. A Buckeye NC252MP 2 channel amp is only $529 and you won't be able to hear any difference. Of course you have to wait until April/May due to backlog as it's a one man operation.

Lol, I have the Bro 8 towers and run them on a Yamaha RX-V667. The answer is hell yes. I did have to put it into 4ohm mode to do it since they hit about 3ohms. It crushed em. I recently switched to the preamp outputs into a crown xls 1002 and it tightened up the bottom and brought a bit more staging, imaging, and separation. Not to mention deeper quicker bass.
