At 2:14 mark, a pitcher of water is not FREE! We just got back from Nice and every place, except for one charged us 8-9 euros when we asked for it. So, your statement is very misleading for the new tourists.
@rivierago17 күн бұрын
Oh, it’s absolutely always free if you take tap water (une carafe d‘eau)!!! And we insist on that! If you paid for tap water, they took advantage of you being tourists - but honestly we‘ve never heard of a scam like that. Are you sure you weren’t served bottled water? If you ask for water, they will serve bottled water which is not free, of course. Always mention the „carafe“ bit!
@libertilgs17 күн бұрын
@@rivierago yes I am sure it was not a bottled water. And it was tap water in those pitchers, not a sparkling water.
@rivierago17 күн бұрын
@@libertilgs Sorry to hear - that is really bizarre, in 20+ years on the French Riviera we have never ever paid for a carafe d‘eau!!! And we order it every single time when dining out (or even just have a coffee)
@libertilgs17 күн бұрын
@@rivierago Thank you for clarifying. Unfortunately, this example is not the only one when we were treated in a dishonest way in Nice. The surroundings were beautiful, but not the quality of service provided.

I was charged 8€ for a water today. I am not even kidding. The cafe was called “the blue whales”

@@IVannaOLiinyk20 oh, sorry, you named the place earlier, didn’t catch it. That’s very strange, though - I checked their website and their menu, and the prices look pretty decent. No idea how they came up with 8€ for a water 😳 (water 4€ during Happy Hour (until midnight), so looks like they charged you for 2 waters?)

There is a small restaurant in the tiny street between the opera and Boulangerie Jeannot that has frog legs as a specialty. Of course, I have NOT tried frog legs myself, and do not plan to try them!

Thank you! This was very helpful. My mother and sister went to France years ago and they told me that the French appreciate you much more if you at least TRY to speak a few words of their language. I feel like it's just polite to do that in any country you travel to.

Thank you! Yes, you‘re absolutely right, just a few words can make all the difference. And it’s fun, too, to learn a few phrases in a foreign language 😊
