Oh my God I'm italian and can't remember the last time I had a croissant (cornetto) or bread with butter and jam for breakfast 😂 truth is I have breakfast only when on holiday abroad. In NYC I used to stuff my face with doughnuts every morning and didn't gain weight as I walked for hours to visit places, same in Paris, where sweets are amazing! I had a French partner years ago and lived near Beauvais for a while, so beautiful! I love French food and sometimes I'll have it. I even have cheese at the end of the meal as a dessert sometimes 😊

On a side note, I didn't knew how hard it was to find a boulangerie pattiserie open after 5 pm. Here in Chile we have something called "once" and having pastries for that is great. So I had to settle for the apéro 😅.

Paris-brest looks like a Profiterole except with cream and hazel nuts instead of ice cream. I like escargot especially the butter, garlic, and parsley which I sop up with a baguette. I love both confit de canard and magret de canard, boeuf bourgignon, coq au vin, and pâté. I am in heaven when I get entrecôte with foie gras and a glass of sauternes. Then the Chateauneuf du Pape with the steak. I do like a large cup of hot coffee. Although I like an espresso or capuccinno, it's too small for me. An Americano is better.

That's because that's not french: that's cheesy mash. Cheddar is way too fatty, and separates under heat, beurk. Aligot requires a very specific cheese which makes it extremely elastic. It's like saying you've had steak roquefort, but you changed the roquefort for a baby bell.

Not all croissants are made with butter, Croissant au Beurre, you have to ask for it. I don't agree that a leek au vinaigrette is an unknown classic, it was served often where I ate, even in a canteen, it is a common hor d'oeuvre and delicious. I have NEVER eaten steak tartare, though I see it is popular, but raw meat isn't for everyone. The desserts are usually a work of art and the most delicious afters ever.

Folks - watching these videos it would seem that all Parisians are bourgeois- this is only one slice of the city. If you want something a bit more authentic head to East Paris (10, 11, 19, 20). You will find the dive bars, the ethnic restaurants - the people who live, breathe and love Paris. This presentation is for the trend chasers with budgets. The Hoxton, Williamsburg crowd. She gives good advice for those folks.
