It was so fun running into you at Le Safari recently. The fact that you went back there for dinner shows that it is not just a tourist spot. I can report that I had probably THE BEST fried calamari of my life that night! So very light breading and melt in your mouth texture- I never thought I’d ever say that about calamari, which so often is chewy. I loved our visit to Nice and if/when we go back we’ll definitely eat at Le Safari again (and maybe run into you again 😂)

I have been to nearly all the restaurants on the streets mentioned here, including Rue Delille. You can actually safely go to most of the restaurants around here even in areas you would think are "tourist traps". It's harder to find a bad restaurant than a good one. On the Cours Saleya where Le Safari is, the food is mostly basic seafood/pizza/pasta. You are there to people watch. If you want the best food then you need to go back a couple of blocks into the Old Town. There is a huge selection of amazing restaurants. Extra tip: if you want a glass of wine then it's safest to point it out on the menu rather than just ask for a glass of white or red, in case they decide you are a more discerning customer and decide to give you one of the more expensive varieties. It's rare but it does happen. Or if no menu ask for a "cote de provence" which should safely get you the house wine. Phillip.

Hey, thanks! Yes, the „Pass Sud Azur Explore“ covers all of the department Alpes-Maritimes (Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Grasse, Menton, Eze, St.Paul de Vence, Cap Ferrat, Villefranche-die-Mer…) and Monaco. It does not cover the Var department (Saint-Tropez and those Provençal villages we’ve shown, such as Tourtour, Cotignac, Seillans, Bormes-les-Mimosas…)

Hi Anja & Aila! We are Pavel & Edel from California. We have been watching your videos and we really enjoy them. Thank you for so much helpful information! :) We are going to be for 4 days in Nice at the end of August, but we arrive on a Sunday. We have heard that many restaurants and shops are closed on Sundays. Could you please guide us on places to go to eat on that first day? Thank you so much! Blessings to both of you
@rivierago6 ай бұрын
Hi Pavel and Edel, thanks for reaching out! Most restaurants should be open on Sunday, especially in the touristy areas they are open every day (old town, flower market, beach etc), but there are exceptions, that’s true too. We loved Bocca Nissa in the old town which we only recently tried out for the first time (you need to absolutely make reservations; for dinner they have a different menu than for lunch which we tried and loved). Safari is a safe bet (between good food and good prices). We can make more suggestions if you tell us what price range you’re looking for 😉

@@rivierago Thank you so much for your quick reply! 🤩 Perfect, that’s good to know. I think we are both ok with a budget of around $50/person. Also, we are going to stay in an Airbnb close to Hotel Negresco, is it safe to walk from there to Old Town and back at night? Thank you so much again! You both are great and we love what you guys do!

A potential video idea that would be very interesting to watch: what are some of the courses or educational opportunities in and around Nice? This could be summer courses (e.g. cooking or art or language, etiquette) or longer-term going to school there! Reason I'm asking is: When I was 13 on vacation in Nice, my Mom came across a little Lycee run by a very wonderful French lady. I met her and would have very much liked to study there (...aber meine Mutter wollte mich dann doch nicht so ganz aus dem Auge lassen, ganz allein in Nizza. Ich dagegen haette es liebend gerne gemacht.)

@@rivierago what is the best way to get to nice from Paris? We are doing three days in Paris before we get to the south. We were thinking train and then rent a car in nice? Or should we do car from Paris?
@rivierago Жыл бұрын
@@jenniferandjoshuaburgos2280 Take the train! The TGV (or low budget train OUIGO) are really quick, it's like 5 hours from Paris to Cannes, a little longer to Nice. You could also fly from Paris to Nice - but the train is actually pretty comfy, and time-wise it's probably the same, if you include the security delays at the airport etc.

The creperie does unfortunately not exist anymore 😢. It was a goodplace indeed.the salad nicoise you had atthe Safari was indeed very average. The genuine salad nicoise should be tomato based... no mesclun in theory. Most restaurants served it with lots of mesclun, because it is cheap and create some volume.
@rivierago11 ай бұрын
Hi, sorry it took us so long to get back to you! We've finally managed to have the crêperie owner on the phone: They are very much still there, open for lunch from Monday to Friday.
