While I appreciate the Constitutionality perspective that David French brings to the subject of the Tennessee Trans Case, I have a really hard time accepting that they are looking at this from anything but a cultural lens is the use of the phrase "Rush to treatment" and their acceptance of the "conclusion: of the Cass Review. The Cass Review was a political review not a scientific systemic review. I've noticed this about Skye when it comes to trans issues. He uses loaded phrases and tries to seem nuanced. Where is the "rush to treatment"? I'm sure that there may be a few rare cases where a parent or doctor does things for ideological reasons - but the standard of care is very methodical and in many cases may actually cause delays in treatment. Absolutely more research is always good. Secondly - about David French's argument that this is an age based question - that would only be true is they were banning these treatments for all youth. All of the treatments are done on children of the "appropriate" sex and so even though there is an age component it absolutely has a basis in sex. Even breast reduction surgery is performed on boys that have excess breast tissue. Why is that not banned? All hormone treatments and puberty blockers would need to be banned to make it strictly an age based question.

I don’t follow this podcast religiously (lol) so you might have already done this, but I think it would be good to invite actual trans guests to discuss trans rights issues, the same way you sometimes have women or racial minorities on the show to discuss issues related to those identities. It’s kind of weird watching a cis guy presenting himself as an expert on the trans perspective here while using phrases like ‘so-called gender-affirming care’ and ‘boys taking female hormones’/‘girls taking male hormones’.

How on Earth was David French presenting himself as an expert on the trans perspective? He was using his expertise in US constitutional law to talk about this particular court case and the wider cultural and political context around it. And much of his language seemed to be chosen to make his comments accessible to people who have minimal knowledge of the topic.

You'd be shocked how few people on the so-called "far left" these guys actually talk to, while presenting as kind of centrists (center right, I'd argue). It doesn't say nothing that *David French* (who in fairness, is something of a proper conservative) has a regular session on this show, while no comparable left wing voice does. It *also* makes critiques that THP are wokelords woking wokefully totally asinine.

@@stephengray1344 Related but somewhat distinct issue, but I honestly find the degree of formalist flattening French regularly engages in (specifically as it relates to U.S. case law) to actually be detrimental to a holistic understanding of justice and how the law actually impacts actual people. But I just play guitar at church. So y'know... haha
@BighomieRich22 сағат бұрын
@@carlostorres1171you’d be correct the THP would be considered traditionally center right in the same way George Bush was considered the compassionate conservative back in his day. what makes them not feel that way to viewers is just how far right a group of Americans have gotten and that they spend more time addressing the far right because they have more interpersonal connects with them. TLDR: center right people will come off as left wing if they spend most of their time critiquing the far right in detail

Lets focus on the most important thing discussed today, The Superman Trailer: Actor choices: GREAT, especially Lois and Luthor Superdog: made me grin like a little kid but I have concerns The music: manipulatively nostalgic, but I loved it. Give me more. The expanded universe and other superheroes: my biggest concern! Just let Superman have a Superman movie! Especially when he's up against Lex Luthor. You don't have Batman up against the Joker or the Penguin while there's an alien invasion going on, and you don't have Superman vs Luthor when there's demigods running around everywhere. Just my opinion. Still interested to see hiw it goes tho!

1 Corinthians 6:9-20 9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. 13 “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”-and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

@followerofchrist1234 wow- you must be a really pretty perfect person! One of the things that turned me OFF to becoming a follower of Jesus was people who threw Bible verses at people for proof of righteousness. I sinned- a lot in my ignorance. Have you, ever? Either before or after believing in Jesus? Whoo has sinned in a greater way? Let the Lord be our judge, when we meet Him. I have not figured it all out and I don't want to hurt you or anyone but let's love one another and let God be the judge. 🙏🏻
