I think what Americans truly appreciate about French style, but miss is the emphasis on fit and tailoring. Every piece you wore hugged your figure perfectly, lengthened you. I believe I can personally learn from this video the importance of accessories to complete the look which elevates the overall look. Now, if only I could find a pair of soft jeans that works with my sensitive skin! I appreciate this video!

This is a perfect guide for jeans!! So informative and full of details that makes the difference... BRAVO! 👏🏻👏🏻 And Benedicte is beyond beautiful and trés chic 😍 Ty PV for this valuable content! 💋🤍

I totally agree with the lady who said that a lot of "straight" jeans are not really straight, I find the vast majority are tapered or too loose around the thighs, including Levi's 501s. I am constantly looking for the perfect straight jeans that are the same width from thigh to ankle like I used to wear in the 70s, what we used to call cigarette jeans, slim fit and mid-rise. Personally I don't like high rise at all as it draws the eye to the belly, even though I'm slim, I always have a belly! How do these lovely French ladies manage to have a flat belly and be not just slim but super slim is a video I would like to watch! I love Parisian style but I do find the Parisian wash too light, I prefer a mid wash or a dark wash for winter.

I have spent the last 6 months trying to find a good regular «oldschool» straightleg pair of jeans. I used to love my AG cigarette leg jeans, but unfortunately I «grew» out of them. The jeans fashion these days is awful. Super high waist widening already from the hip. Doesn’t look good on anyone.
@SmartCreativeWomen Жыл бұрын
@@Dwightinho56 I love my old AG Cigarette jeans as well, and they are low to mid rise, which is more comfortable on me. I used them in the studio and wanted to find a new pair without pant and I couldn't!! SO I went on eBay and found a seller with the exact ones. Think outside the box an find your perfect pair! I have faith in you, haha!

I so agree, friend! In the 80s we called these “stovepipe jeans” and loved them. Every garment I ever bought is huge on my hips and thighs, it wasn’t that way until those “curvy fits” came in after 2000. But, we don’t all have that body shape! That’s one reason I avoid jeans and other trousers, skirts and dresses with side pockets, I have to “de-hip and de-thigh” them, sewing a straight seam and cutting out those bump-outs over the hips and thighs. Side pockets and zippers, and flat-felled seams make that impossible. Bring back true straight-legs, no fat hip bump-outs!

I've been wearing Levi's since childhood here in California. Back then (the 1960s) they were all straight, unwashed, and no stretch. The canvas was so tough we'd have to run them thru the wash with bleach a few times, then maybe hit them with fine grit sandpaper before they were comfortable enough to wear. We'd have one pair, they cost $US7.95, and they lasted forever. Love your content, which will help me look a little better next time I visit my family in Paris!

I owned a couple pair of 501s in the 80s. It comes back in fashion, but I can't help but thinking of those now-outdated look. Now I buy my jeans from Japanese brands like Muji and Uniqlo. In Japan, there are smaller unknown brands that make great denims. In Kyoto, sometimes brands dye the denim themselves. They can be comfortable, depending on the styles. No, I won't compromise on comfort. If you do, you give a vibe of trying too hard. We all make effort to look good anyways. Why not wearing something comfortable while we're at it. 😉

I'm American and always loved Levi 501 jeans. Mainly because of the perfect fit for me and because I'm almost 6ft. tall they accommodate my shape. I am not a fan of the frayed hemline on jeans, nor the holes innthe legs. Those always remind me of a hobo. The high waisted wide leg jeans are my favorite and I wear them now exclusively if I can find the longer length which is very hard to find.😊

I can't stand wearing Levi's. Take four pairs of the same size and model and all will fit differently and feel wonky! My favorites are Calvin Klein and Gloria Vanderbilt. They are both standardized in fit and of good quality. I do prefer a very slight stretch because of abdominal surgical scars. Aggravating that kind of pain is not worth being trendy! I like to do a slightly elevated style with my jeans and wear them with button up shirts, various blouses and toss on a blazer or a cardigan.

@@maddscientist3170 precisely. Levi's has a high price tag so it's supposed to be a status thing. People like to get into exclusivity. I call it middle class snobbery. As Levis are out of bounds to the working class, it's then a good product. Levi's Signature marketed to the low income is a standardized product. GV or CK are better.

I hate wearing jeans because they’re so uncomfortable, but I have to admit that they look great. To me, there is only one possible style of jeans, the original 501s! I hate stretch jeans, even a little stretch. They don’t add any comfort, but their clinginess on the legs makes them pull down off my skinny hips. Brands love stretchy denim because it saves them money on expensive cotton; polyester and Spandex are dirt-cheap. Stretch jeans wrinkle and pucker, attract lint, don’t breathe well and don’t last, the Spandex is trashed in just a few washes, especially if tumble-dried. I don’t machine-dry any of my clothes, I hang them or dry them flat (knits) indoors, so they last for ages and ages. I only machine-dry sheets and towels. I had a really nice clothesline put up outside for them, but within a few minutes the fabrics are covered with thousands of little black insects (knats?). They can’t come off again, apparently, and come in every season and weather. I think they might be drinking the water in the fabrics, but I’m not sure. Everything has to be rewashed, it was a complete flop. Maybe this is why I don’t see other outdoor clotheslines here in the San Francisco area.
