Wow....I understood about 80% of the phrases before the visuals!! I'm glad that my ear is getting better. I've always struggled with having good reading and writing comprehension but not being able to "hear" outside the classroom.

@@scholasticacooney6830 but have you noticed whether certain French speakers are easier to understand? Like sometimes Canadian French or even African French I can understand better....
@scholasticacooney68302 жыл бұрын
@@D.C.22 I do agree. That said, I find African French easier to understand than even Canadian French. I dated a Quebecois for a while and I could not understand his family members. Their accent can be so different.

I used to speak good French 60 years ago when I lived in France but though I can still read it I have forgotten most of it but your videos are helping me to speak that beautiful language again.

I’m obsessed with this language! I love it, but the pronunciation is so hard for me, any tips?
@LanguageCity10 ай бұрын
Well, try to replicate the sound of words, possibly slowing down the pace of the videos you watch. Be detail-oriented. Definitely watch my videos since I constantly break down the difference between the way read a sentence vs the way it is actually pronounced in a conversation. Ultimately, that makes a big difference, at least in terms of listening comprehension.

Alex - sometimes you pronounce/enunciate the otherwise silent "e" at the end of a word (triste) but other times, not. What's the rule?
@LanguageCity10 ай бұрын
When it's the last word of a sentence, and there's nothing that comes after, you'll hear some sort of schwa, but if there's something else coming after, you shouldn't hear that silent "e".

I believe the word is "aural", as in listening comprehension.
