Dream sewing shop, everything in that shop was gorgeous, even the paper bag 😂There are NO sewing shops like this here, I live in a large Scottish city with no cross stitch outlets at all only a section in haberdashery departments, and I see French stitchy passion. A generous lady with her time and knowledge, many thanks for sharing to you both.

This is the second time I've watched the video and will be watching again, the shop owner is full of information and history. So beautiful! I've already ordered an apron and my husband will be purchasing some of their scissors for me for Valentines Day. This video is wonderful and please know how thankful I am that you took the time to put this together.

What a great video of your visit to this truly amazing shop! The products are beautiful, and Mme Frederique Crestin-Billet was so kind to provide us with all of the background of the shop, the goods offered for sale, and the the historical figures and references behind each item. It was very kind of her to spend so much time with you, and then to give you gifts from the shop, as well. She is not only knowledgeable about embroidery, textiles, and history, but a wise business woman, as well. Many thanks. Now, I need to decide what French products I'll stitch once I finish my Italian kitchen towels! 😀

The Bayeux Tapestry is really amazing. It is actually stitched in a specific stitch called the Bayeux Stitch. Because thread was very valuable, they had to be very economic in their stitching, so they stitched in a way, where there are almost no threads visible on the backside. I took a course/seminar a few years ago. It was a two day retreat at the german castle of Wäscherschloß, where we learned to Bayeux stitch. We could choose a scene or smaller part of the tapestry and practice on a small piece of linen. The Bayeux tapestry is stitched on a around 70 meter long and 45,7 to 53,6 centimeter high linen cloth. It depicts the scenes of the Battle of Hastings. There is a wonderful book by David M. Wilson about the Tapestry of Bayeux. It is a huge book and has all the images of the complete tapestry in it. It also has the history of it and a foreword by the former mayor of Bayeux. The book was published in 1985 and is a giant coffee table size, hardcover. If you can get your hands on it, it is a true treasure. I got mine at an antiquarian bookshop. P.S. Do you know the ukrainian knitwear designer Teti? Her youtube channel is called Teti`s Knit Garden. She designs wonderful jumpers, but she also embroiders. A couple of years back, she made one of those traditional blouses. Her grandmother had started it and Teti finished it. Teti also travels back and forth to the Ukrain to see her family on their farm. She always uploads such lovely videos from the life in the village. By the way: Teti lives in Holland (Netherlands). She also has a cat named Katzi. I think you will like her. Many huggs from Fairy Tale Cottage, Schurwald Forest, Germany.

Oh my goodness! I have never made so much search from one comment. Thank you so much for sharing. This book is now my unicorn peace! I LOVE books about antique needle work and had never heard of this one. And thank you for introducing me to Teti, Tetiana - we have the same name. I'm very curious to see here embroidered blouse as I stitch several as well. The retreat you visited is a dream! Do they organize more of them? Happy stitching!

Grazie infinite Tetiana per la tua visita al negozio Sajou... non so se scrivere in italiano o in inglese! Maybe english is better! My name is Paola and am italian. You were mentioned in the last flosstube of "Antique Needleworkers" by Shelly, as she bought a kit from Bonheur des Dames after watching your other video, which is also great. Thank you for showing also the two shops in Milano. I should go to visit the one in viale Abruzzi, as it's actually very near to my parent's house. I live on Lake Maggiore, but I do visit Milano quite oftem. So thank you very much for showing us the magic of the Sajou shop and compliments to the owner, who explained so well her great effort to unite embroidery and history. It's a very unique way of business, and I think it's quite original in the world, as French heritage is, of course. Everything is so gorgeous in the shop! I have inherited some very old Sajou booklet from one the sister of my grand grandfather. She was an extraordinary lady who embroidered and stitched all the time.... The old pattern are so tiny you can't even read the sttiches, but they have been luckily been reprinted form Sajou! It was so good to see the shop it on video! I have never used Retours du Nord thread for cross stitching, but I remember that Jakob, from Modern Folk Embrodery, used this floss in one of his design, that he showed in a flosstube, and it was beautiful. I've ordered "linen by the metre" from Sajou online shop (sajou.fr/en/294-embroidery-linen-fabric-by-the-meter) and it's a 32ct linen made in France. There was a sale, like for Womens Day or Mother's Day, I don't remember, and it was like 15% off... It's a line of high quality, very even, and the colors are lovely. They were so kind to add presents to the order. I loved the curtains with all the letters! I thought it was amazing! I stitched one letters from their designs and it took me four days, so I can't imagine how much it took to complete the huge curtain. I am happy to know your flosstube and now you have a new follower. I am @betsabeabarleycorn on Instagram if you want to see some of my stitching... and I love cats! You made me laugh when you noticed the towel mania they have in Italy! I just don't get it and I am not sure I like cross-stitched towels... I mean, why stiching a towel that gets used every day? I don't know! Once I bought some very simple towels with Aida and then I never stitched anything on it. Bye bye and Happy Stitching!
@HeritageStitching11 ай бұрын
Oh thank you for stopping by and for all your kind words. Yes, I understand Italian but English is still easier for me. Stitched Curtain is now on my bucket list. Good to hear that you had a lovely experience with the shop before. I followed you back on instagram. About the towels, we started a SAL with my stitchy friend here if you want to join ;)
