Hello Marloes - I LOVE this video - from morning to night. The beautiful countryside footage, the sounds of the insects at the end, and the peaceful music. Your veranda looks so inviting now and the colours you have chosen are so lovely and peaceful. Thank you sooo much for sharing that technique for lightening the wood on the table - I have a kitchen table which gives off those orange tones too and have been looking for how to bring out more natural/muted tones - I will try this method too. Best wishes from wintery New Zealand :-)
@FrenchCountryLife3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! A small disclaimer for the technique: the lady that I learned this from says it is only suited for ensuring the unfinished wood will look unfinished after applying a protection coat. It is not suited to whiten furniture. If your wood is very red toned, it may turn out pink 🙈 My table was fine though and I was willing to take the risk. Maybe try it out on an invisible part of the piece of furniture first, I did that and saw it would be fine. I have used a mat protective coat.

I have enjoyed watching the process of making the French house your own. One question, what material do you use to put under the pebbles? usually the weeds come through, but, not in your case. Thanks.
@FrenchCountryLife3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! We use “géotextile” underneath, which is very efficient! You still get some weeds (from grains falling from the trees that then grow onto the pebbles but they are super easy to pull out. I don’t know the name in english but Google will know 😇

The beginning of this video was so calming and beautiful! Loved the space you created! We’ve got an atelier with the stone walls similar to you however it’s going to require a lot of work, the floors are mix of stone and dirt. 🤪Did you to redo the flooring?
@FrenchCountryLife3 жыл бұрын
No the floor was like this. I liked it with the style of the rest of the space so luckily I could leave it this way. It’s concrete and adding something on top would have forced me to change the steel door as well 🤯
@FrenchCountryLife3 жыл бұрын
I only now realize your floor is probably like ours was in our old stables: stones, dirt and cow sh*#. We scooped all of it out and put in floor insulation and a concrete floor. You would want to put in a concrete floor at minimum or if it is a living space, add insulation. Our porch had an old concrete floor that we left as is. You’re probably counting down to september when you’re moving! Such a wonderful thing to look forward to!
@Frenchcountryfriends3 жыл бұрын
@@FrenchCountryLife I was hoping just to work with the floor as it is but yes, concrete will be must. BTW- We found out some good news from the notaires, we will be moving in 3 weeks now!
