I agree with your choice of material and what you said about the check valve, I’m in upstate New York, and it makes me mad that I cannot maximize my drainage systems for my customers due to the fact that the plumbing inspectors and town code will only let me do things there way which In my opinion Is not good enough

Damn straight about check valves in the north. My sump pump runs through my garage and had one. Well guess what happened on concecutive 0 degree winter days...pvc full of water froze, cracked the pipe and next time the pump fired up it hosed the garage interior. I took the check valve off after that. Only annoying thing is you can hear water backflowing into the sump after the pump shuts off. Better to live with that than a broken pipe.

That's why we have a big Chambered Sump pump basin. The back flow of water is displaced over a greater area. Thank you for commenting and contributing.

How does the sump pump get serviced? The whole thing needs to be dug up again? Or is there a way to pull the pump up and then lower a new one?

It's our SCREAMIN DEMON outdoor sump pump system just taller. Look at the build your own outdoor sump pump system in FDM online store. Thank you for commenting. Store | French Drain Systems | Curtain Drains | Macomb, Oakland, Lapeer, St. Clair County frenchdrainman.com/store/

When digging, deep and narrow We use power washer with multiple attachments And a turbo nozzle, And we pump the resulting mudd with a siphon pump attachment for a power washer, It is capable of pumping really thick mud out, I am thinking of using this system you are putting with basements to reduce hydrostatic pressure, do you think it will work, And do you think it might replace A bee dry system. Thank you for sharing the video very beautiful work

I have completed the work as you described. I will retrieve the video footage and edit the video. Stay tuned! It really slowed down the basement sump pump cycles.

Would you recommend: A deep outside perimeter drainage with a sump OR An inside perimeter drainage with a sump; For a basement with a water table higher than the basement floor? I'm thinking about a french drain running shallow for rain runoff and installing a perimeter french drain under the basemen floor to collect any water before it rises up to the level of the basement floor. Would a deep perimeter drain on the outside of basement with a sump work better and why? I will need to both pull the basement floor apart and dig outside the foundation perimeter to insulate it. Any videos would be very helpful I know you have tons, regards from EU! 🎉

I shot a job last fall that was a 9ft outside dig. It was sketchy because it was sand and kept collapsing. It shut off the inside sump pump. It worked because it was sand. I will edit the video this summer and share. It is never a sure beat doing this. The indoor work is a sure bet. Shallow system because if it's deep it may never shut off. Hope that helps in your decision. Thank you for commenting and watching.

I have a somewhat similar situation. Ground water is directly below or at the same height as the base of the split level house foundation (concrete block). The previous owner cut a hole in the block foundation to install a walkout door. There is negative drainage on the exterior of this door causing rainwater and rising groundwater to flood in through this basement door during heavy storms. Also, because of the depth of this basement door, there is no way to daylight any drainage in the surrounding landscape that might be built. Any videos on this sort of situation or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for all your great videos FRENCH DRAIN MAN!! 💪👍👍

Are there any type of certification or training programs for work like this? Specifically for water management
Instead of a wider chamber to displace more water, could you fill the surrounding pit with more stone to make it wider (that's wrapped in the fabric)?
@FRENCHDRAINMAN2 жыл бұрын
The small voids in stone add up to something but not the same as a chamber. Sometimes we wrap High Octane around it for more capacity. Thank you for commenting. Good question!

Should I have a bottom on my sub pump chamber or can it be open to the gravel?
@FRENCHDRAINMAN7 ай бұрын
Has to have a bottom, in my professional opinion. You’re asking for trouble if you put a sump pump on stone.
@Duffr12347 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the reply. That is a good point should I seal the bottom or should I allow the water to come up? I have a foot of gravel below inside the chamber. So the pump is stable, but I’m afraid if the water goes in the chamber, it’ll just sing right back through the ground. Also, my chamber is perforated.
