Even if you're not doing espresso it seems the ESP is a worthy upgrade due to the easy disassembly for cleaning and repairs, better gasket and metal adjustment ring.

so many reviews of these grinders, and this is the best one. thank you. seeing how the conical burr can be removed is something the other reviews don't go into as much detail about, and its a frustration for me with my old Encore. So the ESP seems to have addressed my biggest concern. Thank you for your help.

This was a great review and you touched on all of my questions. I roast my own coffee and enjoy pour over in the mornings and expresso in the afternoon. So a multi-purpose entry machine like the Encore ESP hits all my buttons. Thank you again for doing this particular comparison. My Baratza ESP is on on its way.

That's a rather amazing sequence of acquiring a new hobby - most would start with grinding at home, get a better than shopping mall grinder - dunno why the one step up from the cheapest, is still called "entry level". .. But there you are, except that you were already roasting your own - how did you grind beans before ? Hand Power?

The "Pulse" feature on the Virtuoso+ is VERY useful! When you turn on the grinder, it will often finish and (depending on the dose size you have loaded - I use a 50.5 gram due to retention and a Max of 40 seconds grind) you may still have a bean or two that wasn't ground completely. The pulse solves that problem easily!!! *(I use the single-dose hopper too.)

Is the Virtuosa + the same sound level as the Encores? Does the single dose cup you have on the Virtuosa fit the Encores as well? Thanks great video.

I love the Virtuoso + for the variables it offers and it is very solid as well.

I’ve had my encore for about three years got it for 220 with the Espro P7 32 oz french press at that time for 150 a roster for 90 and have been buying roasting and grinding my coffee fresh it’s well worth it.

Reminds me of hundreds of mobile phone reviews which get into all kindsa fun features - how fast, how many pixel cam, all the speed checks, how far the gaming - but omit signal reception quality and whether you can actually make understandable calls. My Nexus 6 - that had the Google stamp of approval - was to useless for calling unless Bluetooth gadgets were used.

Hello- I appreciate all your informative videos. Of the 3 machines is one noticeably quieter? Is there much of a difference in terms of noise between the ESP & Virtuoso? Many thanks, Jim

Interesting review, but frustrating that you tell us that there is a different type of burr in the Virtuoso and then not tell us anything about it or what makes it different (which is clutch when deciding which one to buy).

But how is the grind uniformity?

Good news I just bought the original Encore and they shipped it with the new gasket so I don’t have the flared one. Makes me think anyone not liking the flared gasket can just buy the flat gasket from the ESP for their Encore

I use the 25 setting on the encore , would that be the same on the ESP version ?

why would you take the time to inform on the easier burr removal/cleaning on the Encore vs. Encore Esp - but fail to adress the issue with the Virtuoso + ? Why is it, that almost all coffee grinder reviews forget to adress that? If I buy a machine that can "last me a life time" - why the heck nobody seems to adress the ease/annoy of cleaning and maintaining the machine? I just don't get it. Yes, all the other stuff - grind size, functions, burrs, blablabla are really important of course. But the best grinder that gives the most consistent grindings, is quiet, programmable and what not is just crap if cleaning and maintaining the thing is poorly designed and will make you hate it, everytime you have to do it. For home brewers there's recommenended to clean your grinder at least every two weeks. Every two weeks half an hour of cursing, figdeting, fumbling and almost getting hurt - that's just not gonna happen!
