Jaeger Chronograph With a Great Caliber Inside !!! Servicing UG 285

In this restoration I worked on a beautiful Jaeger vintage chronograph with an Universal Geneve caliber 285. They are two of my favorite vintage watch brands. It is a great combination and I hope I can make this vintage chronograph run perfectly again after this restoration.

I found my grandpap's watch a few weeks ago. It is a COFRAM. I think it has an FE-233-60 movement. I was amazed to see it works well. Only negative thing is that the case looks bad, because at that time wathce cases were not made by stainless steal, but they were nickel plated. I do not know if i can trust any person to service it. It has so much history, family history.

I have one very similar, does have some dark spots , can they be cleaned of the dial.

Great video on a great watch with a great movement: thank you so much. Universal and JLC are really out there. Since you are so much in love with the word "perfect", let me tell you that in English "dirt" does not have a plural form (even though it appears everywhere), while "wheel" does in fact have one, so you assemble "the wheels" of a movement. On another note: I have watched and listened to countless watchmakers on you KZbin showing and telling me that they will "put the screws of the chronograph movement back in, so as not to mix them up." My question here is: how do you know that the screws were in their right places from the beginning of your work?

Good questions for the screws. You look at it when you get the watch but the screws are in the right place if everything is working

Just wind it one time a day and until it stop winding without forcing a the end

Good vid but for the new mainsprings if they're new or not always need to be greassed. New mainsprings only come pre lubricated so there's not enough oil on them. you Always need to put grease at the bottom of the mainspring drum and on the lid and you also need to put 3 point of oil on the top of the mainspring when is in the barrel drum.

Can be several reasons. Hands are lose, need to lubricate the movement, heart shape cam moves on the chrono wheel...

No reason to LOL. Edmond Jaeger was a French national. Pretty certain he did not pronounce his last name like a guy from Germany. Jaeger-LeCoultre is pronounced exactly the way he does it.
