Hi Gary, nice video! There is one missconception I heard several times already. CO2 is clearly heavier than air, but in moving air it has absolutely no time to separate out. Think of the fog of your humidifier, or fog outside, how long they stay in the air and compare the droplet size to the size of a CO2 molecule. The CO2 molecule falls way, way slower. In a still volume of air the separation takes months or years, so you will not have a notable gradient in your grow rooms. You should be able to see this with your CO2 meter. Thanks for your impressive and very informative videos!

I have noticed that once the room is ventilated, if the humidifier stays off, the co2 stays about the same +-500ppm for hours, but once humidity start to come in the sensor start to steadily move to 2000-4000ppm. Dont know, if is possible that humid air is consuming o2 in the room, and the co2 is increased bca of that. Maybe my sensor just dont work properly

Your channel is really good Gary! Thanks for all of your knowledge and passion to teach about mushroom farm. If you can answer me this question: It seens that the oxygen only enters the room throw your humidifier system (in an active way) when this system is activated by humidostat. Beyond that, we could say that every time you are pushing out the CO2 using your in line fan, the oxygen must get in by somewhere, right? I feel that this “passive way” happens throw the duct that is connected to your humidifier system, right? Thanks!!!
@FreshfromtheFarmFungiАй бұрын
our tents are quite “leaky” so every time the air is exhausted there is fresh oxygenated air coming in as well and in this setup I had a steady flow being expelled constantly on top of the humidity that kicked on when it dropped - so in essence; there is constantly a slow stream of O2 entering the system but a boost when the humidity kicks on - there is a negative pressure from the air being exhausted constantly and I prefer this so the spores are always leaving 🙂
@lucasantonini7618Ай бұрын
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi Sorry for being late! But thanks a lot Gary for answering my question and for your attention! I really did the same over here to get rid of CO2 and spores. I am having some issues about my humidostat readings.. Where do you put your sensor inside the fruiting room? I am trying to figure out what should be the "best place" to be the most effective. I still have a micro fan running 24hours to equilibrate the air conditions for the entire room. My big problem is that even if my humidification system stays on for 10 minutes, I still can't get to 95%, which is very strange. I use an 8-head ultrasonic humidifier for an 8x8-foot greenhouse. It doesn't make sense in my experience, I guess I am doing something wrong or the humidostat has some problems on its readings. Thanks Gary for your help!

Hi Gary, I was hoping to clarify a few things from this video - If you have the time. - The Inline fan is ALWAYS running to introduce FAE into tent. However, when RH drops to its set point, the humidifier kicks on too? - The exhaust fan turns on every 5 mins (With a CO2 monitor, this could be set to exhaust once CO2 reaches elevated levels(Above 900 ppm). Possibly decreasing exhaust intervals) - Ambient temperature? Current setup - Humidifier set same as yours but w/ ducting to feed into tent from outside room. On at 90 off at 95. Fan turns on only to introduce humidity. (On all times?) 4'' exhaust fan @ 105 CFM - Runs every 5 mins. Chamber size - 60"x32"x80" (Upgrading to the AC infinity 4'' inline w/ HEPA intake - 205 CFM) *had ducting w/ polyfill from hvac unit tunneled through to keep chamber at 69 F - Removed as I thought this was causing my blocks to dry My Issue - RH reads 95, though the blocks and fruits themselves appear slightly dry. Used 2nd humidstat to gauge if meter was defective, It's not. - My only intake is the Humidifer pulling air through I can't seem to introduce condensation into my tent even with the RH reading 90-95. The tent quickly clears out. No air leaks found. No tiny water droplets on blocks but feel slighly damp. Begining phase of BO fruit. - stems and caps short and girthy expected to increase in size. FAE doesn't appear to be an issue. The only problem appears to be retaining moisture in the tent.
@FreshfromtheFarmFungi Жыл бұрын
what are the ambient temperatures? If the room air is warmer than the tent fabric or walls it will pull moisture out like a condenser. You want the tent fabric to be the same temp or warmer than the air coming in from the humidifier.

these are 1” pvc pipes - I had extra from another project I was doing but if I could redo them I would go with these same ones but with a stronger brace instead of holes so it’s more balanced. Hey Gary, why is it necessary to have the 6 inch inline exhaust fans run every five minutes? Does the fresh air coming in through the humidifier not have enough power to push the older air out? Or maybe if there is a continuous cycle of air seeping out the bottom it just isnt enough to meet the fresh air needs? Would rolling up the bottom of the tent an inch or two of I tried to set up a similar tent kind of get rid of the need for exhaust fans?

@FreshfromtheFarmFungi2 ай бұрын
this is a grow specific issue - I had my vents set up outside the tent pushing air outside which creates a negative pressure - this pulled fresh air from the ambient room and fresh air was also being pumped in from the humidifier/filtered as the humidity dropped it kicked on. This is the best way Ive found to keep things humidified and fresh. The smells are most likely coming from bacteria growth which should be addressed immediately- you should try using uv lights, air filtration and clean the humidifier often enough to keep this bacteria from growing and getting into the system. Hope this helps!

Thanks Gary. Just designing my Martha tent "plumbing" and was wondering about some of the designs I've seen exhausting from the top. maybe if it’s easier and uses less tubing - a martha tent is quite small so it would be a lot easier to exchange the air, but I still think this is the best design maybe the inflatable plastic tubes that run the length if the ceiling for intake would spread it more evenly as well

does your fan have a dial? I like the inline fans with dials so you can just adjust the speed. Other options are putting it on a timer, getting a smaller fan or dampening with a filter like you said but it will keep changing as spores get stuck in the fan blades and it wears over time so I prefer oversized fans with dials 👍🍄❤️
