This is a great technique. I've been using ground turmeric as an additive. Thanks for sharing.

I have heard that an infusion of Annato seed makes a lasting beautiful orange colour! I'm going to try it soon but I haven't done it myself yet. Tanya from the Lovely Greens channel makes it and it's very nice. x

it is a nice yellow though! I remember reading that Amanda Aaron suggested using a lot more than usual in the powder form to get a dark yellow with turmeric

I really like these because they are natural and simple. it's a shame the colour faded a lot but i still love the buttery yellow and the texture you got. cornflowers are a good contrast too. Lovely x

I've tried tumeric. I just add as is or in a little oil. It gives a nice deep orange color. Maybe the infusion stripped some of the colorant attributes. I like your soap though. It's pretty💖

Can you please clarify my doubt. Adding lye directly to turmeric, will it not affect the properties of turmeric?

I too tried making turmeric soap and the color was light orangy upon unmolding. End of curing it turned to white. Its a challenge to retain the yellow color using turmeric.
@tellervo.4 жыл бұрын
That's a shame. It would be a gorgeous color if it would stick around!

I have turmeric soap that is 1 yr old and it has not faded. I keep soaps in a cabinet so they don’t get exposed to sunlight which will fade them.

Hi tellervo, thanks for the video. I followed your recipe. However, I didnt realize and used lactic acid instead of sodium lactate. Do you know if they are equivalent? Also, I used half of essential oil. Is it a problem?
@tellervo.3 жыл бұрын
Sorry I don't know anything about lactic acid. Using less essential oil will just give a lighter scent.

Wasn t it simplier for powder turmeric?
@emilycalubayan63504 жыл бұрын
Hello Ma'am your soap is Natural No Scent? And the Shea Butter can replace to the same Properties? Thank you! ♥️
@tellervo.4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I think I used lemongrass and orange essential oils for this one. Do you mean what you could replace shea butter with? You could use another hard oil like cocoa butter, it would give you a harder bar than with shea butter. Remember to run it through a lye calculator though. You can also select different hard oils in a lye calculator and compare which ones have similar properties.

Yellow and green natural colorants don't work for me as well. They always turn cream or white after cure. I can only trust clay and charcoal as natural colorants^^

Yes they seem to be tricky. I am going to try different clays next!
