Fresh water generators a key part in the autonomy of a ship!
As they produce our vital fluid from seawater they get fouled by salt deposits therefore we engine room team must work hard to ensure our FWG are consistently producing high quality distillate water for our passengers or crew.

Thank you brother! 😂 to tell you the truth I enjoy the plate types more than the Sasakura Tube types which are also popular.. If we run out of the vaptreat (o similar chemical) then those tubes starts to get full of salt and it's very risky to drill the holes to recover the tube diameters. But plate types it's hard work especially if you have to work with limited assistance, thankfully for the video I had plenty of help.

Thank you very much bro . Please I have a question. Why do we have a pressure relief valve installed in the Fresh water generator when the machine actually works on vacuum and not on pressure. What's the usefulness of the pressure relief valve.? Thank you

Good day brother, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Even though I didn't show it in my video there is a pressure relief valve in the shell of freshwater generators. Imagine if some smart guy starts the fresh water generator with outlet valves closed OR the valves of the seawater inlet are not keeping after years of use and the fresh water generator is stopped and starts to fill with seawater. Without that pressure relief valve lots of the rubbers or the shell rubber will be blown and the FWG will be inoperative. So the basically the fwg relief valve like most relief valves are for safety of the machine.
