You have some of the most amazing tips on youtube! Thank you for all of the hard work you put into these videos, it is much appreciated. As many times as I've seen, heard and read about paint consistency, you explained it in a way that ANYONE could understand. My favorite thing that you do, is when you tell us the properties of particular pigments, like the lamp black furring technique, the napthol red explosion, etc. Thank you! ♥

Rachel, you are so creative in your color choices, compositions and focal points. So many feel that you must use staining colors to get transparent darks, but your paintings look wonderful without them. Perhaps knowing the properties of the colors one uses frequently can help gain "mastery" of them. Plus, if you painted all of your paintings with the same "formula", there would be little variety. "Sam" is just outstanding!

Thank you so much Joy - I've pretty much used the same colors for years, so that does help when it comes to knowing how they work together. But I'm always still learning something new - like lately Winsor Green Gold has ben surprising me what a pretty orange one can achieve with it.

OMG you guys! I saw some interesting watercolor erasers on the Jackson's site so I decided to buy a pack. I didn't know how big they were because in the picture they obviously werent next to another object for scale. Imagine my surprise when they arrived AND THEY WERE LITERALLY MR CLEAN MAGIC ERASERS IN DIFFERENT PACKAGING!! Same size, shape, material, EVERYTHING!🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hi Rachel, love your work and I just love these whoosh paints you have alerted me to. I had the version of the black that does the whoosh and I'm ordering that Napthol Red as we speak, can you advise if there are any other watercolours that naturally have this property? Cheers Jenny

Those are the two that have the most interesting diffusion properties, but the reason I love that red is it's not TOO staining and it mixes so well with both blue and yellow. And what I love about the lamp black is that it has that 'fur out' effect. No other paint does it quite like lamp black! It was very useful when I was painting my late cat Sadie who had long black fur.

I wish I could use him, but for most big competitions you have to paint from your own reference.

@@rachelparkervarner I saw that. Not sure I agree. A lot say nothing you made in class, or with a teacher either.
