I've got 4 pea puffers with a couple kuhli loaches in a 20 long, LOTS of guppy grass and a decent amount of snails. So fun to watch them stalk their prey

A fish that should not be part of any deadly statistic if its fishermen understood the dangers involved in its ingestion. Unfortunately the Japanese implanted the fashion of eating it and seeing it as a delicacy, underestimating the dangers of its toxin. I didn't know there were so many species of this "little friend". I love the MBU Puffer: small, agile, with an eye-catching green color and those protruding teeth that look like something out of a comic movie. Every day you learn something new, good material on this species, I subscribe and look forward to your updates.

That was a great list, and very informative. What is your favorite online store for fish? You mentioned we could ask. I'd love to have a couple of pea puffers, I've seen it done in the past. My problem is access to food. I live 70+ miles from any fish store.

Hi Lynnbonica. For freshwater my go to would be Rob at Flip Aquatics. He’s a friend of mine and I’m partnered with him. Unfortunately, he only sells pea puffers as he deals with small fish. For larger fish, I would consider LiveAquaria’s drivers den (they have a section for freshwater fish) and see if the puffer you are looking for is featured on their weekly listings. For foods - you can try BucePlant or look into fluval’s line of bug bites food. For frozen food - you may be able to buy in bulk from a supplier like SF Bay. I know at least on the reef side - I could contact Larry at LRS foods for a multiple pack order. Their carnivore frenzy food should actually work with most of these puffers as mussels shrimp are a good for them. I’d mix that with dry food and use freeze dried with vita-chem for extra vitamins.

Can't afford that for just shipping, then the cost of the order too. It's a shame, he has nice quality fish. All I want is a couple of pea puffers, but I want to make sure I have access to the proper foods first. Thanks for all the information!

@@lynnbonica4342 Of course. Shipping is expensive for live fish especially when done right. I really like Rob's practice since he actually quarantines all his livestock, something I've only really seen in the saltwater side of the hobby with very expensive fish. I'm a believer in what he does. Hopefully, he can find better ways of scaling the operation so he can bring down the shipping costs. It's tough living that far away from local store. I think liveaquaria will actually ship frozen foods - they have a multi pack available from SF Bay that should work well for them.

Yes it is. Most hobbyists think golden puffers only exist in saltwater. The saltwater variety is pretty amazing and pretty expensive 😅
