Yes Stu did a great job on this one Paul, fabulous to have him in the studio again. We've put together a great course in my online academy on these soloing techniques he is using.

Hey Stu, sounds nice, do you alternate pick much or is it kind of picking every now and then with more legato?
@stuartkingguitar5 жыл бұрын
For this style of playing, it's pretty much alternate picking all the way with a few slurs here and there

Nothing entertaining about guitarists who continually stare at their fingers whilst playing - a very bad habit, gives the distinct impression you don't know where you are going next - your fingers will never learn where your intervals are with this technique, try playing with your eyes shut and face your audience (if you have one), or straight ahead. Also, the double time section sounded mainly like nothing more than a load of scales strung together to fit the chords - or painting by numbers, as Barney Kessel (RIP) used to call it. On the plus side, great execution, every note clear, really astute timing breaks - just forget your scales and modes, and PLAY WHAT YOU HEAR IN YOUR HEAD!!

Well Mr Irving, I guess that even after playing for 60 years plus, 20 of those as guitarist, musical director and arranger of a (very successful) touring showband, and having been acquainted with many of the great jazz guitarists of the 1960s, '70s, 80s, and 90s, I have no idea what I am talking about!!

@@topaztschinnery1418 It's a demo guitar solo for a tab in the style of Pat Martino for education purposes, you have no idea of what you are talking about...
@stuartkingguitar6 жыл бұрын
Hi guys thanks for your input. It's always a heated debate. But keep in mind that this is a very specific example of how you might go about playing "lines" and that's the framework for the performance. So it's intentionally done that way as an educational demonstration on how you might like to add some lines into your playing style. But yes, a lot of valid points there. Do what you love and keep playing, we all love jazz guitar for different reasons. Cheers

And if you bother to properly read the points I raised, and understand Musiclovers' comments, you wouldn't keep repeating your vacuous remark, "you have no idea what you are talking about" - this is very much a case of "if the cap fits, wear it" - and in your case, it appears to be made to measure.
