Eros and Thanatos aren't opposites. Fear and anger are also instrumental for reaching Eros. It is as response to threats to your right to sex, a social community, a life Well lived that fear, anger and sometimes hate arise. I don't see why Freud would assume that fear, anger and hate are for their own sake and always destructive to health. No, they are forces for overcoming threats.

yes, and I would personally argue that safety and most other ”Eros drivers” are all tied to reproduction. We wan’t safety so we can raise potential children in safety, we want success so that we will be perceived as such by females for reproduction.

He didn't assume that fear and anger etc. were for their own sake, but it is when they are for their own sake that this is a manifestation of the death drive

I personally recall how fear and anger are often self destructive and are commonly a hindrance for life to progress. Fear keeps people locked up and in bondage. Fear stops people in their tracks to living a fulfilled life. And anger is never really positive or promotes life because the outcome of anger and hate is always division and conflict, and that breeds destruction and death. Maybe this is where freud was coming from.

The awareness of life and the awareness of death spikes upward in both instances, death can spike downward when you don't want it and so can life.

*That's not the definition of "the pleasure principle"(that was just the difference between the id & the ego).* In the book of "Beyond The Pleasure Principle" Freud explains the phenomenon he called "The Pleasure Principle" within our minds as the dangerous state of mind like living in a fantasy-land & disconnected from the reality. This is a dangerous state of mind that doesn't let the person(the ego) to perceive the dangerous reality in front of him & he just perceives his mental illusion of a happy & friendly world. Imagine you're surrounded by an arm gang in a dark empty ally, but instead of being afraid of them & run, you perceive them as good & friendly people, so you don't defend yourself or run away, and as the result you're killed or injured by the armed gang. The Pleasure Principle deceived you NOT to see the dangerous reality in front of you & it replaced it with a an all sweet & safe illusion. Why the pleasure principle deceives a person to perceive a danger as friendly? Among other reasons, the main reason is that *The Pleasure Principle is in the service of our Death instincts (death drives)* & it works hard to kill us from within.

Using the proposed thesis, i would add some game theory to it. Follows: 1. First, death was the rule, life was the exception. 2. For life to thrive in a hostile enviroment, life needed an imperative, a certain ruthlessness in biology. 3. Life arised from competition (death drive) and eventually converged to cooperation (sex drive). 4. Life could only propagate with sex drive, but life would never stand against suffering without death drive. ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/m57cmmewYrRjotUsi=1tyKnju-p7dD4JZ8 ). Godpeed.

Being young it's the pleasure principle in theory and being old the death.. I don't think either of them apply to an age I think it's a maturity, I think they both apply simultaneously and individually.. a very scary reality, with and without knowledge.

I think we are inevitably going to experience every single aspect of life if we're truly honest with life if we're truly honest with death if we're truly afraid of life and if we're truly afraid of death.

I think Occam's razor is the best way to explain life.. The most simplest terms for the most convenient definitions. Life is just how it is.. love, unanswerable questions and that's what makes it exciting.
