1) Body warmup 2) Start with low voice (humming) 3) Move to middle voice 4) Move to a more chesty voice not up yet 5) Move to the top - remember to move slowly 6) Breathiness/falsetto - increase intensity 7) Go to the top intensity - yelling exercise 8) Head voice - siren exercise 🚨 9) Change registers - ex: chest to falsetto / from low to high 10) Optional : experiment with placements - sing long notes / change the volume on the same pitch

The last tip has got to be the best. Flexibility within a song is key in terms of creativity and technical ability. I don't think enough people realize this.

Hi Freya, we are really found of your videos. Just one request, would you be able to create a video about giving tips on how to start a song. I always feel stressed when I start the song and I dont know why but the first line is always out of tune when the rest is more or less in tune after. I think the first line is very important so what do we have to do for the first line? thank you very much for your help.

Awesome video Freya. Warmups are so important, so overlooked, so underemphasized....and it's so individual. I find you have to experiment to know what works for you. if I'm getting ready for a gig, it might take a good 45 minutes to an hour. One famous singer once told me they warm up until they sense a timbre change. Like you I try to make it fun and uninhibited.

Possibly the best singer in Boise Idaho told me that first sessions of a gig are the least great sounding because most people don't warm-up the voice.

Hi Freya! Your videos are amazing, you are helping me so much! I have a problem with my low voice tho. I can go pretty low and I LOVE that, but once I warm up, reach those highs and just sing for a while in general, it's like as if my low voice just closed, or I can't relax enough to go AS low as on the start... Do I put too much pressure on the highs, or what do I do wrong? Any advice? Thank you for everything you do!
@kingwillie2067 жыл бұрын
Bodlinka - Ranges need to be warmed up individually. If you concentrate on one and not the other, the one you neglect will suffer. If you lose your low register, work on it until it comes back. Working your lower and middle registers will improve your upper register.
