You are 100% correct Dr Mohler. As an older man now who had the same thoughts as your 20 year old about the unfairness of that sin life - I wish I had been more faithful to my relationship with Christ through the years and I am always thankful when I have held the line!

Boy, I wish I could talk to that young student. I didn't come to Christ until my early 40s, and I can't tell you the number of times I've wished I could go back and come to Christ in my teens. All the scars, toxic memories, missed opportunis's, and the time I missed with my children in their most formstive years; they all are things I carry today. I am free in Christ, but I'd be lying if I said it doesn't all hurt today.

Amen and amen to your answer to the young man. “What benefit did you reap at the time from the things you are now shamed of…..?”Romans 6:21 Unfortunately those memories do not go away. Stay strong and steady young man and God will bless you greatly.
@lawrencejones4693Ай бұрын
On Bonhoeffer- he was pretty steady in his liberalism with the denials of the Virgin Birth, of the Bodily Resurrection, of the Divinity of Christ, and, if I remember correctly, in maintaining that Christ today exists only as a corporate presence - all things that teach another Christ. The Scripture tells us what to do with that.

For the young man in his 20's. Read "Thoughts for young men" by JC Ryle.

I did not start following Christ until I was 60 yrs old and I see the pain and battle that goes on in my mind almost daily. Years of piling up trash in your mind leaves a lot scars and leaves Satan a lot of ammo to cause you to fail. It’s what I fear so much nowadays with these sell phones in the hands of our children. These images we voluntarily place in our brain do not leave. The just store up and come back whether you want them to or not. So thankful God saved me and I will continue the battle til I reach the other side. It’s like I have stated at church more than once, “God will always forgive us, but sin has it’s consequences “

All true what you said but remember the word favor, Our Lord and Savior gives that to us, just as the angel said to Mary "the lord has found favor with you " same for us

1. Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the perennial fascination that surrounds him is a real life example of what artists seek in their creations to achieve some semblance of cultural immortality: An ambiguity that creates more questions than it answers, so that people will continue to discuss the meaning through their myriad of individual interpretations. 2. By dying young as an anti-Nazi martyr but leaving behind a complicated theological legacy, Bonhoeffer's heroism is left to his mysterious encounter with God upon the gallows. I believe God embraced his actions over his words, since as the old saying goes, "actions speak louder than words." 3. Had he survived the war, perhaps Dietrich Bonhoeffer would have joined the ranks of Karl Barth and produced voluminous tomes in the Germanic style as an elder statesman who had been on the right side of a conflict that previously had imperiled so many. But who talks of Karl Barth in the same way as is spoken of Dietrich Bonhoeffer? Barth was heroic against the Nazis in his own right, but his Swiss citizenship spared him the fate that befell his German friend. 4. John 15:13 (KJV): Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 5. And if the King James Bible was good enough for St. John ...

For the 20-year-old young man, watch Voddie Baucham's sermon on the Memory of Sin. Longer take on Dr. Mohler's excellent & concise response.

‘Bonhoeffer believed that the historicity of Jesus Christ was uncertain and could not be confirmed or denied with absolute certainty.’ So basically a heretic? Many Nazis, by way of contrast, believed in the resurrection. Complex indeed.

It is interesting how Bonhoeffer takes a very conservative position on honesty in "Cost of Discipleship" but seems to modify it by the time he writes "Ethics" to allow for situations where lying is justified (protection of family, etc.) He was definitely in a different place between the two books.

Thank you, dear brother. I am the older man. That sinned his whole adult life and then came to Christ and I agree with everything you had to say. The one thing I have to say to the young man is repent Now, repent often and stay close to Christ. It'll save you tremendous grief and suffering for yourself and your loved ones. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

I have 4 sons. I call the "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" I would do everything in my power to help them. The President did what each father would do if they had that kind of power. There are much bigger problems than a drug addict/ criminal getting a pardon from his dad.

It was hard for me after seeing the latest movie on him to see him as even a Christian. Yes he opposed the ‘religion’ of the German church but he seemed to be comfortable with worldliness (drank and smoked, in jazz clubs) and being involved in the plot to assassinate Hitler (murder) influenced by his brother-in-law when the Bible clearly tells us that God appoints and removes kings according to His sovereign will. He seemed rebellious and angry in the movie at the Nazis yes more than that he seemed sporatic and I heard him talking very little about Christ as his Lord and sharing the gospel or following His will.

HB has been enabled and caudled all his life. This is just a public display of behavior that's been enacted for decades. Hence, you have a man who's old enough to be a grandfather and should be a source of wise counsel to younger generations. Instead, he's is a drug addicted entitled spoiled brat. Very sad.

If someone wrote a book 2000 years ago when people were backwards shepherds, and over time it seemingly was slowly taking over the planet, I wouldn't think a piece of gassy meat tripping over its own two feet and stubbing its toe in the night and losing it keys in the morning came up with the idea.

On this iq test I stumbled upon they say "high is to low as", and then they list "sky, earth, tree, plant". Now my first thought is that high is to low as sky is to earth. But upon further examination, I say to myself, "Self, isn't the plant high and the earth lower than it, and the tree high and plant lower than the tree and sky? Didn't they say the sky is below the earth too, and plant above the sky?" So much for an earth that is an object with sky beneath it being logical. Sky is higher than the sky and the plant is part of the earth, not higher or lower than it.
@JosephAJesterАй бұрын
The plant is rooted under the ground and swaying flimsily over the dirt, so it is lower and higher than earth.
@JosephAJesterАй бұрын
The petal of the plant is higher than the stem of the plant. Is the twig growing on a tree branch like a tiny plant growing on a tree, sometimes higher up and others lower?

Stories of dragons all over and then the discovery of dinosaurs? I can understand stories of dragons and no dinos, or dinos and no stories, and even the discovery of them and then the stories, but the chances of there being stories then discoveries is miraculous and magical. It is by for more reasonable that dinos lived with dragons while man observed them both, but even more reasonable that dinos and dragons are one in the same and that man lived with it. It's saying the pagans prophesied the discovery and the scientists using dino dna to bring dinos back to life, or pagans could time travel and go to the time of the dinos. The zebra looks like a joke, art, or a woman's dress (a fashion design), or like it came out of a child's imagination or a dream. A zebra looks cartoonish.

How can science understand life if life is not a word but a blank page or meaningless bang or snake in the shape of a two in the sand before man made the two symbol to keep track of, in his mind, what seems to him to be, or what could be, a duplicate? The twin is not the norm. If life was the number one, why would that mean anything? Hey, I'm the number one. Don't you know what that means? It means I was first. But it does not mean I am medicine, or a robot. So I have a meaning. But I do not mean man is suppose to take medicine or build machines. And smart men have clear thoughts. If someone came up to you and just said, "1", he would not be making sense, whereas one word such as "help" would. Even if he gave you the combination of 1 and 1, and just walked up and said "2", it would not make sense but would if he said a sentence such as "How are you?, which is words combined.
