They already had Johnny, but apparently it's when one of them saw an ad for a Nic Cage movie that they settled on the last name. Now top of the irony, Nic Cage is a huge comic nerd, and decided to name one of his kids after his favourite Marvel hero: Ghost Ride, aka Johnny Blaze. Yup, Nic Cage has a son named Johnny Cage.

this is still my favorite MK game from the past generation for a couple of reasons. the game was ripe with easter eggs, even if you sucked, you had fun, the game included Babalities which were fun to pull off against friends, and this is the last MK game that had visible damage to characters as you fought. i don't know why Netherrealm Studio won't bring that back

Sai are bad ass. The only two things that are ever bullshit are throwing them (metal weapons were never thrown unless they were caltrops) and holding the main part of the "blade" as a handle. The fingers should always be around the handle itself or the hooks where they form the hilt. That was an awesome Fisticuffs!

Does anyone else genuinely like some of the characters that most people shit on? I legitimately like Li Mei. I was a youngling when most of the early Mortal Kombats were released (being completely traumatized then desensitised to fatalities and gore), so Deadly Alliance was the first one that I fully understood and got good at. I kept playing Sub Zero when I was a baby because my brother was Scorpion, but my favorite character of the series is actually Li Mei. I legitimately like her as a simple character: "My people are being put to slavery by this bad guy, but if I can enter his tournament and defeat him, I can earn their freedom." Later "I got backstabbed, but then saved, and now I fight for the good guys." That's nice, and I had fun with her combos. And truth be told, I prefer her very first outfit over the rest. A good female character doesn't always need a bikini...

So to answer your question, Yes Boon loves Scorpion waaay more than Sub-Zero. In fact, Scorpion is voiced by Boon. The only reason Scorpion wasn't in MK3 was that the publisher wanted a more "American" game without ninjas. They kept Sub-Zero by saying "No, he's just half-chinese, his father is american".
