what I've learned from anime month is: Pat is the only one who can match Woolie, and is quick to learn games he's never touched. Woolie is the best at fighting games he's practiced a shit ton, but sucks when touching something he hasn't played (unless he picks a broken boss character). Liam is only good at anime games, but only when he picks the little girl character. Matt is still bad at fighting games.

At a calgary airport I played through virtua fighter 3 before trying Crazy Taxi. Turns out the pedals on crazy taxi were broken and I wasted a dollar. Lucky me found a Dollar on the floor after.

Just to comment on the Nicalis Yatagarasu thing, Matt was actually super right in that the Nicalis version specifically is basically unofficially cancelled. It was announced for the 3DS, did nothing for like 2 years, switched platform to Vita, did nothing for a year, added PS4 and Xbone ports, was supposed to come out summer of last year, and haven't heard a word about it since. On top of that, the Nicalis version is NOT the same as the Steam version some people have access to. That version is Attack on Cataclysm, the Nicalis version is the old version. They literally sat on the license for so long the sequel is going to come out before they can port the original game. It's like when the PC version of Blazblue Calamity Trigger came out while Continuum Shift was in arcades and was heading to console soon with no PC version of CS in sight, except that actually came out.

Even with all my bias as a Type Moon fan, just from looking at it, this game shits all over Melty Blood. Holy shit those character designs/animations. I know nothing about this but it's awesome. I mean, I can't speak from a gameplay/mechanics perspective because I'm a complete scrub with fighting games, but it _looks_ pretty damn fluid at least. Also yeah, fuck heterochromia, one of laziest and most done-to-death visual tropes I know. The only good heterochromic character off the top of my head is Lelouch maybe, and even then, you can barely call that heterochromia. All the others I'm thinking of are just cookie-cutter 'mysterious' types that have a second eye colour slapped on their design at the last minute to make them stand out and to compensate for their bland-ass personalities.

I love the guys, and all they do but...damn man, this is probably my favorite game. Pause a moment, look up some moves, it's not like they're hard, every motion has three variants (A, B, C) depending on the button pressed, C usually causing a "super" if at 100% EXS or more. GRD is amazing, ticking off 15 seconds, whoever has more/was more aggressive gets pwr buff for next 15, can manually sacrifice EXS to boost it. And every character has strong gimmicks/uses, kinda need to know them to play effectively. I was glad when one of them seemed to be figuring out Yuzuhira's meter use (As she's a stance character, assume stance, activate A B or C, meter shows which gets used/locked out.) Carmine can take it to EVO, Woolie, he's a high risk, high reward, and spamming specials cuts his life every single use, so you kinda killed yourself hard there. Hilda can range game and juggle you with ease if you get her going right. And as one who mains Byakuya, thank you Pat for at least showing that he can be good, if you learn to use the web setting right, after Matt kinda saltsploded all ovah himself cause wust buthday evah! Oh, he has followups to near every move, often two, if that helps. Liam, Linne and Yuzu can do great things if you learn them, Linne has the amazing speed and practical parry abilities, Yuzu can teleport dash and hit from half screen to wall bounce. Ganbare, otaku-chan. Guys, take a few, learn how to actually play the game some, then hit it again. I can assure you you'll love how you keep learning something newer and deeper every time you play this deceptive game. And to anyone who wanted to get into fighters, this, all this. It's extremely streamlined, cuts all the BS and maintains a lot of depth that'll keep going deeper and deeper the more you play.
