This reminds me of my grandfather. I was so young when he... scratch that, he was like this my entire life until he died when I was 8. You normally don’t want to remember people the way they are when they have dementia/Alzheimer’s, but it’s really all I have. He always seemed like a sweet old man. It’s funny, I still remember being able to understand him when I was really young, but apparently he couldn’t talk for as long as I can remember. I’ve always had a gift for understanding people who don’t necessarily speak in intelligible English, so maybe that’s it. Anyway I appreciate remembering my grandfather again, I thought I’d forgotten about him until now.

My grandpa and my grandma from my mom side, never met them. They maybe passed away. From my dad's side, my grandpa died when i was 6. I never knew much about him and only my grandma. Thats also when my dad went to Africa to meet them. And about 2 years ago my grandma died. I remember the last call we had, i spoke to her, and she was crying because she couldn't remember something. Also please pray for my dad, my aunt died a few months ago and my uncle a month ago. My dad keeps acting like he's fine, but he really isnt. My mom isn't doing anything and is just on the phone with her friends always

Before the pandemic, I used to work at a senior home as a music therapist volunteer. This mod hits particularly hard because the people I usually worked with were suffering from dementia. It was quite saddening to see that they couldn't remember their own family whenever they got visits, and I had to keep reminding them who I was every so often because they would keep forgetting. Despite that, whenever I played a song they liked, they would immediately recognize it and sing along. There was this lovely old lady who completely forgot how to speak English and her native language, but when I sang for her, she would chime in with her own favourite song with clear lyrics. That's why I always tell people no matter the expertise or inclination towards it, music has such a huge impact on our lives.

I noticed that with every song bf is singing less, he forgets the notes or the text he was about to say. More notes are longer, when the music contains more notes, or they're longer than normal, with more space between them. He forgets more and more with every track.

This doesn't make me cry, it just leaves me feeling very empty. My grandfather raised me for most of my life and I was there to watch first hand as his mental capabilities dwindled. He went from occasional forgetfulness to full on dementia. Eventually, when he was on his deathbed after I had gone to live with my dad I came to visit him. I was there for a few days. On the first day he was just there, enveloped in a deep mental fog that was just impassible. But the next day, he was different. He could remember things, and he spoke like nothing was wrong anymore. We spent hours talking. Then the third day, early morning he passed away. I'll never stop cherishing those last few days with him.

As much as I agree that dementia is terrifying and it's horrible that people have to live with it, I think it is also wrong that now some topics are considered "bad" to joke about just because some may see it as offensive. Jokes are meant to bring light-heartedness and humour into things, even things that never had either in the first place. I mean, people joke about things like the world wars all the time and both of those led to the deaths of millions of people. I'm sure that I'm probably in the minority with this point of view but I think that it should be okay to make a joke about anything, as long as it's not overdone, of course.

My HeadCanon/Theory: Boyfriend and Girlfriend have done it. They got GF’s parents to accept their relationship, and then shortly after they tried to have a peaceful life together, even though Boyfriend was a rising star. After a few months, Boyfriend grew increasingly confident, and eventually he became a rap legend. One day, while he and Girlfriend were riding out on a date in Boyfriend’s car, Boyfriend took a shot to the head by a anonymous person. The person had wanted revenge from Daddy Dearest, and he intended to shoot Girlfriend, unconscious of the fact she was a demon, and therefore unable to die. (Correct me if I’m wrong.) Girlfriend immediately called 9-1-1, and Boyfriend was hurried to the hospital. All of Boyfriend’s fans eagerly waited for the next album, and the next, until the news came out he had Dementia. Most of the fans were worried, and visited the hospital many times. Some knew there was no hope, and just straight up left him. Soon, Boyfriend’s only supporters were the people he had become friends with. Eventually, he was out of the hospital, but he couldn’t remember much. His fans had left him. He was a waning star. Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest both felt a little sad for him, and then the rest is explained by this mod. This is just my opinion! Thank you for reading.

Like, a life where you only take others love and affection and cannot return anything at all no matter how hard you try. Getting small glimpses of a life where you used to share amazing experiences and how now in comparison, you are just trash making everyone around you depressed and sorry for you. That- is an unimaginable way to live to me. I mean this as if it were me who were the patient suffering from this. Not directing this at current ones. To those still supporting patients of dementia. Yea, I live with my grandpa and he has dementia. It's not something to romanticize. It's honestly scary. He wakes up at 3:00 pm most days thinking it's 8:00 am, he doesn't remember my name or any of my family's names. So no, it's not a sexual thing. It's horrifying.
