Cheap acrylic paints from the dollar store. If interested just buy some paints and start mixing the colors and messing around.
Colors used for this and most paintings I do are: red, yellow, blue, black and aqua green. This was done on thick paper but nothing fancy. You can use a plastic picnic plate to mix your paints and water to thin them / clean your brushes.
