So I missed the detail that the hitchhikers sister was in Part 2. Doesn't change my issue with the continuity so please don't waste your comment trying to correct me on a minor detail. Thanks!

The "He's killing me!" part is actually based on reality. According to Tom Savini (during his time in the military), he heard many men scream "Oh God! He's killing me!" while being attacked to death in Vietnam.

When Tex Watson stabbed Leno LaBianca in the neck, Leno cried, “Don’t stab me anymore! I’m dead. I’m dead.” That shit’s disturbing but although it’s not uncommon to hear people scream something like that, I felt it never really worked in Friday 4. Tom Savini’s seen and heard some hellish stuff. Holy hell.

@cjmiller6741 Жыл бұрын
This is probably the best intro of these Friday films that you've done, imitating the nurse to the classic Crispin Glover dance.(music was so great in the 80s) This movie is full of great actors. Peter Barton, Crispen Glover, and Lawrence Monsoon (who played lead in the Last American Virgin - worth a check-out because of Horror icon Diane Franklin) Kimberly Beck from Class of 1984 and Roller Boogie, Corey Feldman, his character Tommy, was a bit of a crafty boy wiz-kid. I had the fangoria magazines featuring all these movies, too. One day, Mom went full devout Christian on me and threw them out. Back in those days, we had to fight for our right to party. All four of the movies were made before video rental stores like video-1 and blockbuster were the thing to do. If we had them on VCR it's because we recorded them from HBO. It was hardly ever that a marathon of four Friday the 13th movies in a row would happen. Watching them theatrically was not tedious because we watched them once a year. When horror is too different in sequels, audiences revolt against the studious(such as with every Exorcist film after the first) Teens were the ones paying dollars at the cinema for a pg movie to sneak into r-rated slashers. When I was a teen, I needed simple, easy to follow plot points. Obviously, Tommy Jarvis was introduced to attract elementary kids like me. I was in Fifth grade and had to see it. What got in my way, when they started to lose it for me, were the gimmicks. 3D was the first. This final chapter, the last was a gimmick. A new Gimmicky beginning in pt 5(wherein Ethel and Junior were hilarious af) It went downhill with the gimmicks from there on out. Ah, the hitchhiker and the sister...was she in an earlier film? Probably not. This particular killing spree probably only lasted five days. 2 for pt 2, 1 for pt 3, and 2 days for pt 4. However, it is quite possibly, given that Jason attacked Kris years earlier in pt 3 before the events of that film, that Jason has killed before the events of pt 2. Nothing in any of the films make it so that couldn't happen, the sister being killed in an earlier spree. I don't think she was seen in the franchise. I know they revisited the idea in the remake. But there really is no continuity issue. You just got to assume the lives of the characters don't begin and end with the title cards.
@chandlerjohnson28224 жыл бұрын
The Final Chapter is a good culmination of all the time we have spent with Jason as a human. Considering that at the time they thought this would be the last who raw, you can tell that a bigger budget was spent into this movie which I do appreciate. And just by the opening scene with the cop cars and helicopters, you can tell that they put all of their cards on the table with this “finale”. Bringing Tom Savini back was one of the best things about this movie. His gore affects are top notch, and I believe that the kills he did here are some of the most creative and well thought out. Brutal AF too! Also, this is actually the first Friday movie where I genuinely cared about the other characters besides Jason himself. Sure they are still there for a body count, but they all have their own unique quirks and personalities which makes them memorable. Also, this movie has some star power with the casting of young Corey Feldman and Crispin Glover. They do great in their roles and are scene stealers when on camera. Back in 1984 the audience may not have thought anything of these two actors. However, watching the movie nowadays only increases the appreciation for these actors as they have gone on and done great things in their careers. Jason also looks really good in this movie, with the inclusion of the axe wound on his head from the previous movie, the long ass, dirty fingernails, and droopy eye with the one ear poking our gives a distinguished but also reminiscent look to how Jason looked as a little boy. Ted White is a more amplified version of Richard Brooker, as well as a more cunning and brutal version of the character. My only real annoyance in this movie is that Jason is still a bit in the shadows hiding. And I understand why they did this, but at this point in the franchise I wish he wasn’t hiding as much anymore. Kinda sick of The Who done it vibes. That’s just me though. Overall top contender for best F13 movie and a hell of a ride! RATING 4/5

To me this is overall the best film of the franchise. It has a lot going for it as you mention with the characters, a strong interpretation of Jason, and I think holds up the best to repeat viewings. Jason Lives might be a tad more fun but it goes back to the more campy nature of the franchise (although it definitely knows and embraces it). (at around 35 mins) The strange dance which Jimbo performs at the party was contributed by actor Crispin Glover and was based on the eccentric way he actually danced in clubs. On the set he was dancing to "Back in Black" by AC/DC as the scene was filmed. In the film however an edited version of "Love Is a Lie" by Lion was dubbed into the scene 58 years old at the time, Ted White is the oldest actor to portray Jason Voorhees. White, who died in October 2022, was the longest-lived cast member (96 years old). Last film in the series to pick up immediately where the previous film left off. Though he disliked being involved with the film, Ted White is considered by many fans to be one of the best Jasons. Joseph Zito had previously directed The Prowler (1981), but they wanted him to both direct AND write Friday the 13th Part 4. He said, "But I'm not a writer," to which they said, "Here's a contract paying you double to write and direct," and then he responded, "Yeah, I'm totally a writer." Zito used the extra salary to hire Barney Cohen to somewhat secretly write the script. Their process entailed Zito taking nightly one-hour phone calls with Phil Scuderi to discuss the story and script for Final Chapter. The next day Zito would meet Cohen in an apartment in New York to relay what notes and ideas Scuderi had offered, which they would then turn into new script pages to be sent later that day to Scuderi in Boston to be discussed again over the phone that night. (at around 9 mins) The nurse's name tag reads "R. Morgan, RN," an homage to actress Robbi Morgan, who played Annie in Friday the 13th (1980). Ted White refused to talk to the other actors during production because he thought socializing with them would diminish their fear of Jason. (at around 10 mins) The workout video Axel watches is Aerobicise (1982). It stars Darcy DeMoss who went on to have a role in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986). at around 1h 2 mins) In one scene, Rob talks to Trish about his sister, Sandra. Sandra was one of Jason's victims in Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981). At the time, this installment of the series contained the most nudity and gore. On a budget of $1,800,000 the film made $32,600,000 at the box office. (at around 9 mins) The moment where Jason's hand moves in the morgue was done by Ted White after Joseph Zito had called cut on the scene. However, the camera was still rolling, and caught this movement, and it was included in the film. This is the only film in the series to shoot new footage using sets and locations from a previous film. The beginning takes place on the set of Friday the 13th: Part 3 (1982), before moving to a new location. Ted White was uncredited as Jason Voorhees by his own request because he felt it would hurt his career. Years later he grew to accept his role and started appearing at horror conventions. Director Joseph Zito was opposed to using clips from previous installments at the beginning of the film. It has been suggested that the only reason Tom Savini worked as make-up artist on this film was so he could accurately age and properly kill the character he created from the first film. During filming Kimberly Beck, who plays Trish, experienced strange occurrences including a man watching her while she ran in the park and strange phone calls at all hours. This stopped when production was over. Jason actor Ted White and special effects artist Tom Savini at first were confrontational with one another. But once White found out Savini had experience with stunts, the two became friends. Director Joseph Zito wanted Jason's hockey mask to explode apart in the opening credits, but there was not enough time in post-production to pull off this gag. Even though he plays her son, Ted White (Jason Voorhees) is actually 11 months older than Betsy Palmer (Pamela Voorhees). The Jarvis family's dog, Gordon, was named after a recently deceased dog which a friend of director Joseph Zito owned. Jason's death won the Golden Chainsaw Award in Dead Meat's "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter" kill count. Kimberly Beck stated in the Crystal Lake Memories book that she does not like the horror genre. In addition to this, she also said that she feels this film was not even a B-movie, but rather a C-movie. Final film of Joan Freeman. According to Jason performer Ted White, Corey Feldman maintained a bratty attitude on set. Feldman maintains that this was due to poor treatment by director Joseph Zito and that during filming of the scene in which he attacks Jason with the machete he was pretending that the sandbags he struck were Zito. Even with his attitude, White stated in interviews that Feldman was a very impressive actor. Chronologically, parts 2, 3 and 4 take place over the course of five days. During that time Jason kills 34 people. As a result of spending so much time in the water during filming of her death scene, Judie Aronson actually developed hypothermia due to the freezing temperatures of the late night shoot. at around 1h 26 mins) The scene at the end, in which Corey Feldman hacks up Jason with a machete, was done by having Feldman chop away at two sandbags. The poster shows the hockey mask with a knife on its left eye socket. Jason is defeated with a machete going through his left eye. Ted White is the second tallest actor to play Jason at 6'4". Body Count: 14 First film on the series where Jason doesn't kill anyone with his machete, instead he gets defeated by Tommy with Rob's machete Corey Feldman wore a skullcap to create the illusion that he had shaved his head.

I always got the impression that the movies start right where the prior one left off but then there's an assumed time jump between that opening scene and the new counselors arriving for the new kills. Another one that I love. Definitely one of the series' best, with excellent kills, surprisingly likable characters, and a very intimidating Jason in Ted White. I think if this had actually been the last one, it would've been just fine. By the way, I think the first false "final" movie has to be the ninth Godzilla movie, Destroy All Monsters. That was meant to be the big finale of that series, both with its title and the amount of monsters in it but, of course, that didn't happen at all.

Awesome review as always bro, love the skits funny as hell. This movie is awesome the kills are badass and the people are more enjoyable to watch. I agree Corey Feldman makes a better Tommy Jarvis and Crispin Glover is funny as hell with his dancing but overall awesome movie

For some reason I always thought that part 2 happened 2-5 years after the 1st, and that part 3 happened a few years after two, so that it would make sense that the guys missing sister Sandra (chick from 2 who got killed famous two person slaughter ) would have been missing awhile. Anyway this is my fave of the Fridays, watching weirdo Crispin Glover dance is reason enough to see the movie. Apparently that was the actual way Crispin Glover was out in clubs dancing at the time.!

Jone Holre I appreciate the criticism but I have no plans on altering what I do. Sorry you don't appreciate the intros but you're in the minority. I'd encourage you to understand that my intros are one of the many elements I use to make my videos and channel stand out from the rest. Simply doing standard reviews is something that I have never and likely will never have any interest in. Usually my intros are very short but I wanted to do something different for Friday the 13th and have a connecting narrative as a series-long intro and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

Awesome review of my favourite Friday The 13th movie, huge Jason Voorhees fan & he's just fucking brutal in this film. Crispen Glover was supposedly dancing to ACDC Black In Black, which is a bit.....erm weird, I been to several ACDC concerts never seen em dance like that lol. There's some fit women in this film & of course Corey Feldmans just brilliant as Tommy Jarvis, the Die Die Die scene is a iconic memorable moment in the franchise. 6969 Codys Loveshack i don't suppose my missing unrated Saw 2 blu ray has turned up there has it been lost in transit from US to UK? Lol

I think continuity wise, the fact we only see Jason start his massacres 2 days before this movie doesn't negate the fact this messed up kid was running around, molesting, stalking and killing people in the years since his apparent death as a boy. Heck, Pamela was probably luring people there to try and get her son back out of hiding.

Good Review Cody 👍🏻 This fourth Friday the 13th instalment for me is the second best of the sequels. It may not be a great film, neither were the previous three, but it's still very enjoyable. However, there are three performances that are actually the best of the whole Franchise. Corey Feldman as Tommy Jarvis, who later become the main protagonist in the two Sequels, is very appealing, Crispin Glover is lots of fun in his role and Ted White is one of the scariest Jasons. There is plenty of suspense and tension that was missing in the third movie and the Kills in this one are probably the best Kills in the whole Franchise. Also the movie contains the best ending of the Franchise. I like it.

the sister who Jason killed was the Sandra, the double spear death in Part 2. And I agree that it seems as though her brother's been searching for an extended period of time, which is a continuity flaw UNLESS we assume Jason escapes the morgue and then some time passes before the bulk of the film. (That's what I tell myself because then I can say that it could be another Friday the 13th instead of Sunday the 15th haha)

God... Could have done without that Corey Feldman dance number! As for the "He's killing me!" guy, while it is funny, I think I saw in an interview, maybe from the Crystal Lake Memories documentary, where he said he pulled that from real life where I think he read a story about someone who was being stabbed, and was screaming "He's killing me! He's killing me!".

I still stand by the notion that Part 2 was the scariest of the series. Jason seemed like a wild animal in that one. He would run and just had a very creepy vibe to him. He had a normal size man's body and it made him more HUMAN, which made it more disturbing. The music score was creepier in Part 2 and the scenes in the shack built up a lot of tension, as did the ones where you see him chasing the girl in the woods and there are shots of the moon. It felt more like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre from 1974. More twisted. While I love Part 4 and all of the parts up to 6 (I can tolerate Part 7 and do think that Jason Goes to Hell was entertaining), I still believe that Part 2 felt more believable, as though the events that were occurring, could actually happen, where as every part from 3 onward, felt too unbelievable, due to Jason being the massive and imposing figure who had superhuman strength and couldn't die. That's not scary to me, but it is fun! That's for damn sure ;-).

Not a fan of the backwoods, manic hillbilly look for Jason in that movie..I understand they didn't really know what to do with him but his costume is cheesy af in that movie.
