LOL You're killing it with this "Halloween" series, Cody. I totally agree on this one. It does have some decent elements and a promising premise but quickly squanders it. The first sign of trouble was how they had Laurie go down like a punk. Still, at least it's not "Freddy's Dead." I gave this one the exact same rating you did.
@mattreynolds35032 жыл бұрын
The reason why I and most people think this is the worst Halloween, is because other than Laurie's 3 minutes of screen time this film had absolutely nothing to do with any other storyline in the franchise and it just blows as we all know.

20:23 That'd make sense as the majority of Dimension's Hellraiser sequels were unrelated films that they just decided to put Pinhead in and make Hellraiser films at the last minute. So I wouldn't be surprised if this originally wasn't going to be a Halloween film.
@thehorrorhound65756 жыл бұрын
Xehanort10 naw the original script was called Halloween: homecoming and it’s almost the exact same script but no busta rhymes and Tyra banks, the main difference is that a bunch of college kids set up a web show in the Myers house to live stream during Halloween and Michael comes home after killing Laurie and the blood bath begins but most of the characters were the same
@Xehanort106 жыл бұрын
Daniel Farrands who wrote Halloween 6 had a better idea for a sequel to H20 than Resurrection was and it involved Tommy Doyle being institutionalised in Smith's Grove because he was believed to have committed some murders that were actually Michael's doing but he gets out and meets Lindsey Wallace who Laurie was babysitting along with him in 1978 and they come across Michael and try to get away from him. It would have had flashbacks to Loomis's therapy sessions with Michael in Smith's Grove too.He eventually did it in comic book form with Halloween One Good Scare.
@thehorrorhound65756 жыл бұрын
Xehanort10 the planned sequel to resurrection would have seen josh hartnett (Laurie’s son from H20) finding out about Laurie’s death and pulling a tommy Jarvis from Friday the 13th and wanting revenge on Michael.

Was first named "Halloween: The Homecoming", but producers wanted a title that said Michael Myers is alive so in February 2002, the film was officially named Halloween: Resurrection (2002). Jamie Lee Curtis was quoted as saying she considered this film a joke. John Carpenter has stated that the movie made him cringe. While in the asylum, Laurie Strode has a Raggedy Ann doll. In the original movie, she had a similar Raggedy Ann doll on the dresser in her bedroom. Jamie Lee Curtis appears on the movie cover with short hair, despite having long hair in the film. If looked at more closely, one can easily tell that it's the same picture of her that was used for the poster of the previous film, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998). In 2015 when being interviewed by Toofab, Jamie Lee Curtis has said that this film was a complete joke, and that the only reason why she did the film was because she signed a contract when doing Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998), because that was the only way she could have Halloween H20 made. Stuntman Brad Loree, a lifelong horror enthusiast and fan of the 'Halloween' films, plays Michael Myers in this installment. Loree stated that, had the series not been rebooted after 'Resurrection', he would have liked to reprise the role of Myers, as he enjoyed the role. Bianca Kajlich cannot scream and her screams had to be dubbed in post production. Jamie Lee Curtis has played Laurie Strode in films released in six different decades from the 1970s to the 2020s: Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998), Halloween: Resurrection (2002), Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills(2021) and Halloween Ends (2022). The only one movie to establish Michael Myers' birth date: October 19, 1957. Jamie Lee Curtis was contractually obligated to be in a sequel, supposedly for a 30-second cameo, but reportedly was so interested in the story that she agreed to do a full four-day shoot and appeared in the entire opening sequence. However she has discounted this and only did it because she didn't want her character to be in any more films. She saw this film as a joke. This film is the first one in which Michael kills a victim by decapitation. Freddie Harris' surname is an homage to Danielle Harris, who played Michael Myers' niece, Jamie Lloyd, in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989). (at around 17 mins) In the first scene at the college, Sara Moyer (Bianca Kajlich) is shown twirling her hair, much like Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) does in the class room scene in the original Halloween. Sara says that Michael's knife would be in an evidence room locker, in the beginning of Bride of Chucky (1998), Michael's mask is shown in an evidence room locker. Michael's use of a spiked leg of a tripod as a weapon is an homage to Michael Powell's Peeping Tom (1960). (At around 8 mins) The security camera footage showing Michael walking down a corridor is similar to Halloween II (1981) when the security footage shows Michael walking down a hospital hallway both movies were directed by Rick Rosenthal. Michael's knife is a, 12" Victorinox Forschner with Rosewood Handle. The name Jen Danzig is a reference to Glenn Danzig, the former singer and leader of The Misfits, who wrote and sung the songs Halloween and Halloween II after the original movie was released. The two songs have nothing to do with the movies, because their lyrics do not even touch the main plot. When Laurie is killed by Michael and falls through the trees, you can hear the same "landing on the floor" sound effect from when Michael falls out of the window at the end of the original Halloween. Ryan Merriman (Myles) and Billy Kay (Scott) were both born on April 10th. The film's poster, has Laurie reflected on the bottom of the knife, which is also bloodied at the tip. Laurie Strode is only in the film for the first 15 minutes and only says 11 lines of dialogue. Despite this, Jamie Lee Curtis still gets top billing as part of the cast. at around 16 mins) At the beginning of the movie Harold begins to recount the victims of the first two films and he says three teenagers were killed, along with three nurses and a paramedic. This is completely wrong. Four teenagers were killed (Annie, Bob, Linda and Alice (the girl talking on the phone at the beginning of the second movie) and four nurses, a paramedic, a security guard, a doctor, and a marshal, as well as the truck driver who was found by Dr. Loomis, which is where Michael got his jumpsuit. Nora Winston's (Tyra Banks's) death scene was originally onscreen. Publicity stills and behind-the-scenes photos proved that her death scene was filmed. It involved Michael stringing her up with electrical wire and him repeatedly stabbing her in the abdomen as she struggled (which explains the pool of blood Sara slips on in the garage). The scene was later cut, as a suggestion by Brad Loree, the stuntman who played Michael, as he stated "Every horror movie has to have a character find the body of someone you didn't know was dead." Body count: 10. (Plus one character presumed dead, but it's unconfirmed. If you count the bodies from the flashbacks then the body count is 14.) Second Halloween movie to have Michael get burned in a fire at the end, first was Halloween II (1981), both were directed by Rick Rosenthal. (at around 1h 17 mins) Tyra Banks' character's death was cut. You can still see the aftermath in the movie. Michael switching outfits with the paramedic (how he survived the previous film) is similar to the producers' cut ending to Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), where Michael switches outfits with Dr. Wynn.

And it was my first Freddy film in theatres as I saw in in 91 when it came out) I got to say, you forgot another reason why it made no sense. If that was the paramedic in the ending of H20, he would've been dead. Because no man can survive that hit from a Van. They would've had internal bleeding and died. At least with the thorn demon storyline it would make sense since he is unkillable.

I'm okay with Halloween: Resurrection because some parts of it are so silly that I just find it hilarious. The part where Busta Rhymes is dressed UP like Michael Myers and doesn't realize who he is talking to is one of those parts. Jason Voorhees would've done a Mortal Kombat X Fatality on Busta for that crap. But not only does Busta live through all that talking he's actually poking Michael Myers in the head, he tells Michael to turn around and leave and Michael actually does it (???). I was watching that part like "Wait/what, he let him live?" See that was some funny shite. I mostly just find this film funny.

One of the reasons I love your channel is exactly because you’re not afraid of making some “controversial” choices when it comes to rankings. If everyone had the same opinions, the KZbin horror community would be boring as shit. This movie is pretty damn awful, but I would lie if I said that I don’t find it just slightly entertaining. Busta Rhymes, stupid as he was, kinda cracked me up. I feel about it but he did

When you base your film around a current trend (the internet/web cams/big brother) then throw in Busta Rhymes and Tyra Banks and an actress who's so bad at screaming, she has to be dubbed over, you know its going to be pure gold.

No one seems to mention the house, in curse it was renovated and lived in yet in resurrection it's been abandoned since the 60s. Also Michael was institutionalised so couldn't have been there all those years, maybe the last 3.

While watching this, I thought of a few idea that they COULD'VE used instead of this garbage. 1.) Don't make another one at all. (Well... H20 made a $55 million dollars so uhh... that's not gonna happen.) 2.) I know it didn't happen but try the no Michael Myers idea again: There's so many original ideas they could've done with something horrifying happening on the Halloween season and could've made a great avenue for smaller unknown directions to make horror movies that would be seen by more people than it most likely would have otherwise. I know they originally wanted to for this movie's early development so why tf didn't they do it? 3.) Laurie is enjoying her retirement after finally stopping Michael Myers like maybe she wrote a book, and has a new rich boyfriend. (Like her character in Freaky Friday.) But back in Haddonfield, murders start up once again and the town's teens seek out Mrs. Strode to come back to her hometown to help. Laurie, now taking a Loomis-like role must help them stop the killer who might be Michael or might just be a copycat who's been overly obsessed with Michael for years. (Kind of like the killer obsessed patient in this movie's opening or a Riddler-type nerd.) 4.) Maybe wipe everything completely for a new start and establish a fully new cast of characters who are attacked by a new killer who's built up as Michael throughout the film only to subvert your expectations in the final act. 5.) Maybe after killing Michael, Laurie begins to have a mental breakdown with psychotic thoughts like if Michael successfully broke her. And once Halloween rolls around again, she KILLS someone. Maybe her son or some trick-or-treater who happened to come to her house at the wrong time. She gets locked up in a mental asylum and murders of patients begin there as well AND it raises the question: Is Michael alive, or has Laurie gone full-blown insane because of her fucked-up life? It could be a great character study of what happens to the mind after 20 plus years of torment as a survivor that's so tragic and more psychological instead of blood-soaked slashing that could also make Michael scary in a new and modern way. (So yeah, basically a more thought out, better made and white horseless version of Rob Zombie's H2.)

As always, I pretty much agree with every point however... I kind of like the opening sequence... Maybe I'm crazy but I think it was shot well, it's very creepy and for an opening kill it's not half bad. It's a shame it does sort of shit on the face of the H2O ending I agree but they were never going to end the franchise like that and I think that was inevitable they were going to bring Michael back and when they did, he'd go right back to stalking Laurie. No way would he just forget about her and move on to killing someone else. Therefore, in order to bring hi, back they had to bring Laurie back and JLC at that point actually asked to be killed off if I recall. I just think the opening is actually the only thing I like about this movie.
@aaronbeauchamp33123 жыл бұрын
From what I've researched, the only way JLC would do this movie is if she did get killed off. Understandably, she was OVER the Halloween series. So it was an agreement between her and the studio that had her killed off. With that said, they should have thought it through more and just said, "Nah, we won't have her in it at all." Killing her off was a horrible decision. The movie went downhill for me from that moment on.....
@gRinchY-op5vr2 жыл бұрын
@@aaronbeauchamp3312 or...have the whole film be in the Asylum building up to Michael killing her, make her the final kill. Would also help if they didn't give her the idiot ball right beforehand, because as many have said even if the dude chasing her wasn't Michael he still chased her with intent to kill her why should she need to check its definitely Michael 🤦♀️

I know it's not a horror film, but I'd like to see you review Red Rock West. If you don't know what it is, it's a Nic Cage film, where he shows up in Wyoming from Texas, and is turned down a job he thought he was going to get. So, he stumbles into a bar where the owner thinks he's a hitman from Texas that he hired to kill his wife, and Cage, thinking he's talking about a bar tending job, accepts it, before realizing what he's really expected to do. Then, the real hitman (played by Dennis Hopper) shows up and things get crazy. GREAT film, which was originally supposed to be straight to video until someone saw it and started running it in his theater.

And I'm just going to get this out of the way, I said back in Cody's review in Halloween 5 that I would rather watch Busta Rymes in Halloween Resurrection than Tina from Halloween 5... and after watching this movie again I still stand by that. I can't stand Tina, but Busta Rymes is at least entertaining enough to where I can make fun of his character throughout the movie. NOT MYERS, mind you, Busta Rymes. But yeah, I don't have it in myself to really trash this move.

I agree 100% with every single thing you said in this video lmao. Resurrection is bad but far from the worst horror movie I've ever seen. My #1 biggest issue is that Tyra Banks and Busta Rhymes are in it. I hate when celebrities (especially when they are not actors) are in films that are better off using lesser known but actors or actors that have been in the series from the start. All other flaws in Resurrection pale compared to casting Busta Rhymes & Tyra Banks. It would bother me if they cast Angelina Jolie too for example because again, I'm too familiar with her career. A big name like that throws me back into reality when I wanna get lost in the movie. Kelly Rowland being cast in Freddy VS Jason irritated me too. I think that movie had similar flaws to Resurrection. Famous non-actor cast, making a mockery of a beloved movie killer mainly though at least it was FReddy doing the mocking not Busta Rhymes doing corny cringey kung fu. Except for those things. I bet a lot of Halloween fans wanted to tar & feather Busta Rhymes for his role in Resurrection. Including me lol. Again great video, I agree with everything you said.

Just finished watching this movie for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Busta Rhymes is so funny in it it's hard not to be entertained. Had the story gone deeper on exploring Michael's past combined with better acting it could've been a slam dunk. I just think the plot was too surface level for it to have any long lasting impression on the Halloween universe.
