John, no gag here. This is a fantastic, fried fish, of course low-carb sandwich recipe. You are quite the fisherman, your next great catch needs to be miss Lulu. I want you to land this one, and I don't want to hear the fish stories, about the one that got away!

Hi Glen!! I never would have thought that the combination of breadcrumbs, parmesan and seasoning could taste so crispy and succulent! And I had no guilt either, everything was very low carb! I never thought of the great analogy that you raised. I'm pretty successful landing fish out on the water, but not doing too well nabbing Miss Lulu. There's always the next time she comes to dinner though. Thanks so much for the really great, kind comment my friend!

@Juanelo19469 жыл бұрын
Hi Brenda!! The bread is from "Great Low Carb Bread Company." I found it online at netrition.com here www4.netrition.com/glc_bread_company_bread.html. Later, I realized that they package breadcrumbs too. That would have saved me a lot of time! I've made Bob's Red Mill Low Carb Bread myself from dough, but buying a loaf like this is so much easier! Isn't Lulu adorable in that lacy runner we keep on a nightstand!? LOL! I couldn't get her to talk about weddings but she knows my obsession for KZbin gags! :-) Thanks a million for all your kindness my dear friend! Big hugs! Love, John and Jeanne

Hi Believe! You have to scroll down a bit to see the ingredients and carbs. There is only 1 net carb in each slice of bread! The ingredients are: "Water, vital wheat gluten, oat fiber, almond flour, flax seed meal, wheat fiber, wheat protein isolate, modified wheat starch, virgin olive oil, yeast, cinnamon, calcium propionate, enzyme, vinegar, salt, stevia"

I've been a fan of your videos for quite a while now. It's just FUN! Not enough of that in the world my friend. I'm recently retired from 33 years in public safety and have been a life long fisherman here in "Sportsman's Paradise" (Louisiana). I think that the older I get, the more I enjoy pan fishing on light tackle. Unfortunately I do not have "Lake Ketchabigone" out my back door so I have to settle for historic Caddo Lake, Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend being a short drive away. It is my hope that you stay in good health, good humor and keep making these feel good videos. Your Friend Dan in LA (not Los Angeles or Lower Alabama lol)
@Juanelo19467 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan! I can identify with that! "The older I get, the more I enjoy pan fishing on light tackle!" Years ago, it was all about catching big bass. That's fun of course, but the joy is more consistent when reeling in a big bream or crappie! I'm jealous that you have those world-famous lakes in your area! I've been reading about those lakes since I was 16!! LOL!! Thanks loads for watching my videos my friend! Thank you especially for taking the time to leave the great comment!

another thing I like doing is filleting bluegill and grilling them with roasted garlic and squeezing a fresh lemon on the filets. along with some seasoning we got from a place called gander mountain. the seasoning is called season it all and it goes great with fish

+Juanelo1946 I do put them in foil when grilling them I put the lemon juice on them,then put a little garlic from our garden in there with the fillets. then cook it. I let it marinade in the juices it makes. I put butter in there sometimes to for a little extra flavor.

Hi Anthony! That yellow rope is called a "stringer." It has a metal tip at the end to pierce the lower jaw of the fish, and a large metal ring at the other end so that the fish won't fall off of it. Hi there Mr J. I have seen a couple of videos and enjoyed them.. Funny and cool..👍👍 By the way i mostly do salt water fiahing. How do those blue gill taste like? Are they better than crappie? I have tried crappie.. Thank you in advance... Cheers...
@Juanelo19466 жыл бұрын
Hi M.! Bluegill are a bit like catfish, small bass, or yellow perch. They are very mild fish and have almost a tender-sweet flavor! They're excellent tasting fish! They are far better tasting than dry, mealy crappie in my opinion! LOL! (I don't care for crappie!) It’s sure good of you to watch my shows! Thanks especially for the good words my friend!

Hi Nicopatch! I tried fishing today too, but caught nothing! There was still ice in some places on the lake though. I'm envious! Of all my fish recipes, the bluegill sandwich recipe turned out about the best of all of them! I hope you try it! Good luck with it! Thank you so much for watching and especially for taking the time to leave the kind comment my friend! Tight lines!

Love the videos. You seem like a wonderful person and it's great you can share you cooking and fishing adventures with us. Just thought I would leave a quick tip for extra crispy fish, if you let the breading sit on the fillets for 10-15 minutes after breading they will be extra crispy. Keep up the good work!
@Juanelo19467 жыл бұрын
Hi Matthew! You're too kind! Wow! What a great suggestion!!! I've seen cooks allow the breading to soak into chicken but I had no idea why they did that. Crispiness might have been the reason, huh? Thanks so much for watching my videos! Thanks especially for the great tip and the very nice comment my friend!

Hi again Klein Boy! What a great idea! I never heard of making a sandwich with eggplant for the bread, but I love the idea. I ought to try it. The fish always tastes best at a shore lunch. John, I didn't see this video in my subscriptions feed but rather noticed the screen shot on the "up next" column on the right of my monitor as I was watching one of your other recent videos. I need to say that if you ever notice I miss commenting on your vids it isn't that I'm being rude but rather in all likelihood didn't see the upload. I'd like to ask what type of filet knife you are using for your pan fish because it seems to do a much better job than mine. Good thinking with the wedding hair cover from the 30's, but yet the unrequited love saga continues...you guys are great! Hi to Miss Cheeks! Don & Brenda
@Juanelo19469 жыл бұрын
Hi Don!! No worries at all! I realize that KZbin is not so great at notifying subscribers of new videos. I've been lucky. I clicked on the little gear icon under your videos and ticked off " Send me all notifications for this channel." So I've been getting notices of MOST videos in my email. I've been uploading new videos every Sunday evening at 9 EST/ 8 CST for several months now. I won't be able to keep to that schedule forever because Jeanne is in need of a real vacation. :-) I use two sizes of Rapala fillet knife (one is for small panfish). I was having some trouble getting good fillets myself the last few times, when I realized that my knives needed a good sharpening. That cured the problem! Despite the wedding hair cover, I can't seem to steer Lulu to the right conclusion! :-) Thank you so much for finding your way here my friend! Jeanne joins me here in sending you and Brenda all the best!

@Juanelo19469 жыл бұрын
Hi CC! This is our family's private lake in northern Ohio. I can keep any size fish I'd like, but small bluegill are just more trouble to fillet, so I throw them back. Thanks for watching!
@CCFootballManiacs9 жыл бұрын
+Juanelo1946 well yes for sure I just meant what you call small there we call pretty good here, ig all of our good bluegill are fished out, I love your videos keep them up
@Juanelo19469 жыл бұрын
CC, I wonder if it just seems that way to you. Maybe your bluegill are actually stunted because there are TOO MANY of them. That happens very often in ponds and small lakes.
@burkhart5519 жыл бұрын
Hey man I seen most of your videos and you caught and cooked we'll over 100 bluegill. Dose this affect the population of the bluegill in the lake an oh yeah is their any catfish in the lake?
@Juanelo19469 жыл бұрын
Hi Bass Basics! I hope I'm not destroying the fishery of this 6 acre lake. For the past year I have not taken any bluegill other than those in my videos. The last I looked this subject up, I didn't come even close to the numbers I could take. I'll look into it again. Thanks so much for watching my videos! Yes, there are channel catfish in the lake.

Hi Shayla!! I got this bread at netrition.com. Of course I toasted it with plenty of butter. We both thought it was great this way! I haven't tried it in its soft state. I wish i could fillet fish like you juanelo i cant fillet worth a darn by the way do you know how to get fishy taste out of bluegil? thanks my friend
@Juanelo19464 жыл бұрын
Hi KMAN! I think you asked me once before about fishy taste of bluegill. But I've never noticed the slightest fishy taste. To me they have a mild, tender-sweet taste when fried up, not too unlike chicken. But one thing you might try is to soak your fish fillets in milk overnight, before frying them. I know you can learn to fillet a fish at least as well as I can. I learned from a pamphlet with drawings. But you can check out my video here kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZjMeKSip6djgq8 and get an even better idea on filleting. I hope I've been of help to you! Good luck fishing this season! As always, thanks so much for watching my videos my friend! All the best to you and yours!
