How to Make Fried Green Tomatoes
Ingredients:
4 large green tomatoes
2 eggs
½ cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup cornmeal
½ cup bread crumbs
2 tsp. kosher salt
¼ tsp. ground pepper
3 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
Making fried green tomatoes:
Mix the dry ingredients:
In a bowl take cornmeal, add breadcrumbs, pepper, salt and mix well.
Mix the wet ingredients:
Take milk in a bowl, crack in two eggs and whisk till well combined
Slice the tomatoes:
Slice the tomatoes evenly into ½ inch thick slices.
Fry the tomatoes:
Dip tomato slices in flour. Then into the milk-egg mix and then coat it in the cornmeal crumb. Coat the slices evenly and rest them on a wired rack for 5 minutes. Heat oil in a pan and fry the tomatoes on medium-high heat for 3 to 5 minutes. Take them out and place on a wired rack to drain off excess oil. Serve hot!
