Friedman makes amps that have useable gain all the way across its spectrum. I think my Runt 50 with el34's with its gain on 11 nails a Perfect Hot Rod Plexi sound. Then the HBE gain boost easily takes you into 80's Thrash and Shred territory.

That amp is (or was) the best value in Friedman’s line (that and the Runt 50). You can get a KILLER warm, strat blues tone with that amp, then get a killer classic hard rock tone. All with the twist of a button, being just one channel. I had the Silver Jubilee mini, but sold it cause i didn’t like the clean channel. I just wanted something really simple that could go from killer blues tone to classic hard rock. And, the little amp just kills it. Just a simple great all around amp. I just wish you could still get one. And, you’re right…that Tumnus is a GREAT pedal. That pedal with my Ceriatone Yeti 50 is spectacular. Sounds amazing, brother. I don’t think Friedman is making those anymore, so I’d hand on to that. 👍 Cool video! Thanks for sharing

agreed....I owned at least 7 Dirty Shirley's since it came out...I'd use it then sell it then miss it then buy it then get bored again then sell then miss then buy etc etc etc.....for me, I keep coming back to Marshalls because all my heroes played marshalls (Hendrix, Slash, Angus) but Friedmans are awesome!

@@KelsterVonShredster Yup. I do the exact same thing. Constant gear changing. I’m getting ready to sell my Yeti 50, after waiting 10mo to get it…lol. My biggest regret is not picking up a DS mini when I had the chance. If the Silver Jubilee mini had a warm clean channel like that DS, it’d be the perfect amp. We definitely have the same ears. 👍🤘

@@phillamoore157 I had a Ceriatone JTM45 at one point and it didn't do it for me so havn't bothered with any other Ceriatones. I'm currently rocking the Marshall SV20 (for a fourth time) for grind and Fender '68 Pro Reverb for my cleans and pedal platform. I agree about the clean channel on the Jubilee not being great. Sounds like you'd be a good candidate for the Twin Sister Dirty Shirley; set one channel for clean and the other grind. Rock on man!

@@KelsterVonShredster Yup...yeah, Ceriatone makes killer stuff. But, the experience hasn't been a great one for me either, for a lot of reasons. The Yeti is just a bit too dark for me. And, it's a single channel amp. I actually like it's clean tone, a little better than the gain tone. That Tumnus can fix just about anything though :-) Unfortunately, between the company growth, and the supply chain issues, I don't think Ceriatone is the company they used to be. That said *AMEN on that Twin sister!!!! The perfect modded Marshall IMO* I really wish I could afford a Bogner Helios, as well. Lovin' the videos....keep it going. You and Cragginshred have two of the best channels to watch for getting really well dialed in tones. 👍

It's one of the coolest amps I own. As for it not sounding to clean it probably wont with a Les Paul. Love my strat in the middle position with a Topanga reverb

Amazing sounds! finally somene showing the DSM with the tumnus. I think they both pair amazingly. I am wondering how would the DSM work with the Browne Protein. Thanks for sharing. This is the amp i am thinking to buy as my first valve amp.

Frankly, there are so many great sounding amps nowadays that I'm ready to throw my hands up and admit that I can't decide what to buy. And they all cost so much. Someday I have to stop chasing tone.

Lol agree 100%. Right now I'm rocking a Bogner XTC and Supro Black Magick 👌😎👍

Sweet tones! Like the channel name btw. Came upon this because I’m likely going to buy the Little Sister. Have you tried it? I know it’s not much different, perhaps just the addition of the bright/tight switch but appreciate any thoughts you might have

i've owned 7 dirty shirley's but never a twin sister so can't really speak to that. Overall the Dirty Shiriely is one of my top 5 amps of all time, so you won't be dissapointed as it's from the same family!

Awesome playing! I love the sound of the DS. I bought the pedal hopefully the real deal at some point. I also have the Tumnus, I bought it to just boost the clean/slight break up but I found myself turning the gain up more and more lol. What's the setting's that you on your Tumnus? Sound's killer. Great video.

I have a mini DS and love it. Thought about getting a Pink Taco...just for the heck of it. Have you played the PT? Does it have a lot more gain? Would it be considered more of a 80's hair band amp? Thanks!
@KelsterVonShredster2 жыл бұрын
yes, I've owned both the DS Mini and Pink Taco; Pink Taco is much more "brown sound" higher gain and I also found it very dark compared to the DS Mini. Both killer amps! Both more aggressive than most Marshalls though....over time, as I age, I prefer the clarity of Marshall plexis compared to Friedman amps
