My turn. I'm 60, and I have been the nice guy too many times to count. I'm not deaf, and I dated a deaf woman, and she cheated on me when I treated her nice (not because of her disability). From that experience, I stopped treating women differently, and I let them know when they do something that upsets me. Guys, what Rich says at the end is absolutely 100% true: it all hinges on your ability to say no, especially to women. You must demonstrate that you have higher priorities than her, and better things to worry about than whatever she happens to think of you. Practice saying no. I have wrestled with these paradoxes all my life. I was taken in the 80's/90's by the feminist lie that women were "looking for a kind, considerate, sensitive, man". "Get in touch with your feminine side", "I respect a men that can cry" nonsense. It cost me dearly. I got friend-zoned and used and it just never stopped. I just didn't know what was going on. I thought being nice was just the normal way to live for anyone. Later in life I saw the need to set boundaries. People will just take you for a ride otherwise. And that did help me in relationships. I liked what Rich said about being a "good guy" but knowing when to dispense kindness and so on. The niceness itself is not bad, it's when you allow emotion to control you. You get swayed by someone's need to the point where you bend and just wash through your boundaries. My dad was like that. He was always fair. He would be kind and decent but he had strong boundaries. He would just stop. I have a little defense for the "nice guy". I disagree with Rich about "being a little bit of an asshole". That's the pill I never swallowed. I know that might reduce ones chances of success with women and even in general life but I believe that it is morally wrong. I can win by cheating. Anyone can. I can "knife you" and get the upper hand. But, is it right? Is life just about success with women or getting rich? If that's what it is all about then I'd rather be single and poor. Really. In fact, I'm living it. I'm only moderately successful. I could be more financially successful but there are certain things I just will not do. And that brings me to the toxicity of the modern woman. They are looking for a man with "the necessary evil". Women are in a FRENZY these days about this. They are looking for toughness beyond reason. They LOVE "the bad boy". But he achieves his power by cheating. By evil. By not giving a damn. Is that what you want? Definitely not what I want. The worst thing a man can do for a woman is give her attention/validation without asking anything in return. That is the friends zone. The problem with too many of these guys is they allow a woman to mistake kindness for weakness and they set no boundaries with her. The way I avoided getting into this trap was within a date or two I made it clear that if I saw her again it would lead toward a romantic relationship (sex). If she responds that I was her friend or gives a BS answer, then I would tell her if she changes her mind, to let me know but as of now we will no longer see each other. That allowed her time to decide if I was boyfriend material. If she contacted me, I set the rules and made very clear expectations about what would and would not happen. If not, I avoided a lot of frustration and did not waste my time on a woman who will never take me seriously.

He is right. I am a woman. I enjoy male company, but I can only do that in a group setting. I had two male friends whom I had a common interest with from being in a volunteer community. We would meet occasionally and exchange books and talk. However, I always made it clear from the beginning that my meeting them did not imply I’m interested in dating them. They always agreed. The minute I sensed they were expressing sexual interest, I had to disengage. I was very straightforward with them from the start. If a man wants to date a woman, he has to ask her out, period. The friendzone is totally optional, and this goes on both ends. If you realize that the energy isnt being reciprocated then remove yours. It really is as simple as that. Short story: I remember a few years ago post-college I would always run into this Asian chick who had a group of guys with her at a hookah bar. They clearly liked her but none made any moves and gave 'the friend vibe'. She'd always manage to make it over to me usually sitting alone drawing (or with one other friend) and chat for some time before walking back to her table. One of her guy friends from her table spilled the beans that I was taken and showed her a picture from Facebook to which she said 'I didnt know you had a girlfriend?!". You don't have to be an a-hole, just be someone that she sees as having priorities. A woman who is genuinely attracted to you wants to be that priority. If you click with a woman and she starts texting or wanting to talk overa coffee about her day, her problems, her work etc then that right there is where you make or break it. Simply say something along the lines of 'you wanna talk over a coffee? If we do, then it's a date.' Can be cocky or charming with it. Say there's no way I'm going to be seen with a hottie like you unless it's obvious we're on a date. Say it with a smile. Even on the phone or on a text. Don't have to be an a-hole. Or if she wants to text or call on the phone, just be straight up and don't waste your time. Tell her you've got other things to do but if she wants to make it a date, we'll talk in person. She'll either refuse or take you up. Either way, it's a win-win. You get a date with clear intentions or you get your time back to focus on things that really matter and provide value to YOUR life. Haven't watched the full video yet- although the male in question sounds great. I get the feeling he is a nice guy and the women pick up on this. He is doing a good deed and expecting something in return. I think part of the problem is with him and how he handles himself. I have a relaxed couldn't care less attitude towards women and girls now. I don't want anything from them, I don't let them walk over me etc and I never get disappointed. I have had a charmed comfortable enjoyable life thanks to not inviting the wrong people into my life (or not having unrealistic expectation etc.) Stories like this remind me I have done th e right thing in my life by keeping things simple- have a good day reader :)

Amen on the divorce court. The ex tried a horrible shaming letter with me me that just got me pissed off. At that point, I told her if she ever shamed she would in fact get 100% of the assets but that would be 100% of nothing as every penny would go to lawyers. I didn't get the temporary orders bullshit. She won that round, but I won in the end. When all was said and done, I offered up a fair proposal, and she took it. Thing is women are content to just piss and moan and play the victim living in the house you paid for until you threaten to burn the whole thing down. I even had a lawyer tell me during his divorce that my advice about burning down the house was the best advice anyone gave him.
