Thanks for the tip about Georgian Bay history. The French River includes the Voyageur Channel which is the official route from the upper lakes to Ottawa. The Courier Du Bois (Berries) was part of the pemican trade (vitamin C plus Fatty Acids) which ran parallel to the fur trade. The North American Natives held the key to curing Scurvy.

Neither of us were familiar with pemmican. Interesting part of history that we'll have to look into, thanks!

@@PepandJambo When you mentioned Radisson, I had a flood of memories come back from my grade 8 teacher. (By the way, you can feel free to correct me)

We did but they weren't home! Pretty neat spot though. Neither of us had ever heard of American Pickers until landing in Leclaire lol

How old are these videos? Are these from 2023? I was at lock 8 and I got stuck in the snow there on Halloween of this year (2023). My tent was "no more" and my stuff was wet. Could have froze to death out there.

Wow, sounds like you had a close call. Did you make it through the night and just pack out in the morning? These were taken in November 2022. We started our trip October 7th I think and finished in late December.

@@PepandJambo I had to call an ambulance and all that. I didnt get hypothermic but they were like "Yeah, you got cold man". My body started doing weird things and i was having trouble breathing. Once I got out of the weather though, the guys at the lock gave me hot coffee, they gave my dog (service animal) some water, and a police officer stayed with me till my ride came to pick me up. No lasting damage whatsoever. I still have the canoe so I'm gonna try again in April. My goal is to reach Texas via the Mississippi, the Atachafalya, and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. I'll end up in Galveston.

That's a wild night and sounds like it could have been a lot worse! Glad you made it through and good luck on your next attempt; be careful out there@@johnbell7235
