I've fed two road runners for five years. They finally don't come back anymore. Probably died or killed. Friends were always amazed to see them come on my porch and wait for me to come out. Thanks for posting video.

They're so cool! My daughter and I were camping in Laughlin NV, and we went swimming the Colorado river. We got out and were walking down the beach and noticed a roadrunner was fallowing us. We kept waling to verify, and it was 100% following us for like 500 yards. So I layed down on the beach and said "let's just see what happens". The roadrunner walked right up on top of my chest and stood their looking at me for a couple seconds, then walked away. I also saved a little swallow that had fallen into the river and become hypothermic, but that's another story. The point is, birds are SOOO cool!

I have three of them I feed. When I walk in the desert, after a few minutes I always have at least one keeping pace with me, just a few feet away. They're so incredibly quiet when they're not talking, I have no idea they're there until I see them. I just wish I could get them to hop around all over me like you seem to, but hopefully I'll make it happen. They're like tiny dinosaurs, and so cute when they're tearing up the desert, well, what a privilege to have them a part of my daily routine. Now if I could only train the God knows how many Mojave Green and California Speckled Rattlesnakes I've got living under the house. That sure would be a neat trick.
@jeremygalloway1348 Жыл бұрын
Jessica, what are you feeding it? A roadrunner has been living around my work the last 18months or so. Hadn't seen him in a while as he was up around the entrance to the property...but now he's moved closer to the actual site. I've seen him the last few days in a row. He's coming closer and closer to me when I'm taking a break out in my car. Wanting to try and throw him out some food, but reading they only eat prickly pear apples and cacti...and only when insects/reptiles/rodents are scarce(plenty of all that out here lol). I don't expect to hand feed him like in your video...just enjoy watching him and wanting to get closer. Each time I pull up and park and wait a few minutes he will hop out of the fallen tree I think he's made a nest in...and will look at ne. Then will run around catching stuff. But always comes closer and closer to my car. Yesterday 20ft.today 15. I have car running and loud exhaust. Rolled my window down and smooch smooched and he was just watching me. He doesn't need any help with food...but it'd be cool to offer some help. I know it's illegal to possess or harass native birds(migratory bird treaty act 1918 I believe). But I'm not intending to do either of those..just intending to toss some food out and if he wants to be buds I'm down. Animals are badass...especially these lil dudes lol. Male or female I can't tell...whatever it is it's awesome to watch!

Hopefully in his community everyone is good to the wildlife . I see a lot of wildlife, baby and adult coyotes, birds and rabits just wandering the golf course getting close (within 10 feet) to people ,not afraid at all . Everyone I saw respected the animals and were nice to them. But yeah I do have that same concern as you, that there are those sick people who abuse animals and will harm "people friendly " trusting animals .

@@jimwednt1229 I live in a city that has a lot of what could be called overgrown or not well kept. I have trouble with raccoons, and possums. Getting into things. Although the music is somewhat fitting and doesn’t completely drown out the original audio at least, it is still unnecessary and doesn’t improve the video, it drowns out the background noise and so we lose the crucial sense of atmosphere as a result. My advice is no music for short, simple and wholesome animal videos like this.
