Friendly tabby gets a ticket to the VIP life

Ayala had been hanging around a Brooklyn residential building for weeks, often seen by the trash. A neighbor had been looking after her outside and giving her food, but was unable to offer longterm care and was so happy we could rescue her. Ayala quickly became a volunteer favorite, and while she's happy about her upgrade to the indoor life - her stink face lets us know that she still has very refined and particular taste! When cats make a stink face they are actually opening their mouth to get more of the scent in on their jacobson’s organ, located right behind their front teeth, though you probably can’t tell of you dont know what it is you’re looking at. This is an olfactory organ that helps with sensing pheromones. Fun fact, for whatever reason, cats actually like stinky feet.

What a sweet cat. She looks very much like a grey tabby that just showed up at my farmyard. Over a mile from the nearest neighbor, scared, skinny, very friendly and just frantic to get in the house. Clearly someone dumped her. She's safe now, waiting to be spayed and a clean bill of health from the vet and then she'll be up for adoption.

My maternal grandfather and my paternal grandmother each had residential properties that happened to have a barn. People dumped cats at both their properties frequently, despite neither of them having a "farm". People just see a barn and decide those people will take random cats. Fortunately and unfortunately, they were both softies when it came to sad animals, so they each took care of the cats, its just unfortunate because it caused them a lot of trouble over time, and made them very sad.

@@annana6098 I hear that. When my parents lived on the place cats would show up every now and then. They had a few cats around for pest control so there was always room for another. But it's not a good situation for a house cat. They'd try to find homes for them, and a couple became indoor cats.
