Besides, this is a mad text written by a man we have no info about and people reading the abracadabra and trying to use it to start WW3 to be beamed up into heaven, are assuming 1000 times more than Hemant does - he at least still has his two feet on the ground.

This chapter borrows very heavily from daniel, and in particular, daniel 7. You're right that this is about rome. The fatal wound might refer to the death of julius caesar, or to the death of nero. 666 and 616 both probably refer to nero. Jehovah's witnesses say that the sea beast represents all the kingdoms of the world. The 7 heads represent the 7 world empires: egypt, assyria, babylon, media and persia together, greece, rome, and britain and the usa together. They say the land beast is also britain and the usa together. And they say that the image of the sea beast is the league of nations, which was killed, but came back to life as the united nations.

I think you're going to love this one I heard: A bar-code is basically every digit 1 - 0 represented by two vertical lines - of specific thicknesses. Two thin lines is the code for 6. And every bar-code has a 6 at the start, one in the middle and a 6 at the end as locators for the scanner. Take any product - bottle of shampoo, jam jar, magazine - that you have in the house and have a look. The digits are printed under the symbols you can check the lot. It's right there in front of your eyes. 666. (In Europe, anyway.) Hence also the allusion to "known only to those who can read" these are clearly the supermarket tellers - and the idea that without this mark you cannot buy or sell. Great talk, sir.

Well, okay, first of all, this ENTIRE thing is an allegory for the, at the time, hoped-for defeat of the Roman Empire in its oppression of Christians, and the Alt Right Christian movements have been getting off on it ever since, since the "Our God will destroy our enemies and elevate us beyond imagining" trope has been nigh-universal for a really long time. You see it all over mythology, but the ending will differ between cultures. For example, in the Mahabharata, which, by the way, is actually a consistent narrative, but at the VERY end of that text, you see the Pandavas--your de facto "good guys" in Heaven, but you ALSO see the Kauravas, the de facto "bad guys" in Heaven. Why? Because the Kauravas died in battle against the Pandavas, thereby having done their religious duties as warriors. In THIS kind of very-binary ending, though, "all the people we don't like" are the ones who go to Hell, while the in-group, the group writing the text, must OF COURSE go to Heaven. But the many beasts probably represent, as you say, different arms of the Roman Empire, or different kings and regents, or different aspects of the Pagan religion/s that the Christians and Jews did no like. There's not much room for nuance in purely binary belief systems, unfortunately, but they can still dress it up in drug-trippy imagery. Also, to be fair, Nero really was a f*cking lunatic. It would have been a lyre, no a violin, but that thing about him "fiddling while Rome burned" is actually true. 666 is also supposed to represent Nero, though I can't remember how they got that out of the numerology, but the Mark of the Beast would just have been people pledging their loyalty to him, so that, then, they wouldn't be persecuted under his reign, and a lot of Jewish and Christian people living in the empire DID give their support to Nero, at least verbally, so that they could trade, and so that they wouldn't get themselves killed. Like I say, he was a total bastard.

The seven heads are Heaven, Hell, Life, Death, and the three universes. The fatal wound to one of the Heads is the Spirit of the man. This Spirit was killed and he lost his Soul, then he got his Soul back with a new Spirit. This is the meaning of the Ancient of days and the infant of days. I love the way you use sarcasm to pick this apart. What you are ripping to shreds is a popular belief, however. The Greek doesn't speak about the whole world being destroyed. It uses the word GÉ, which can just as well mean 'land'. I have come to see Revelation as an apocalyptic, allegorical description of the destruction of Jerusalem and the persecution of the Jews in the Jewish war of 66-70 (3.5 years). According to Josephus this was a terrible event, with over a million casualties. The details of this allegory must have meant something to someone at some point. I don't know when this book was written and I don't much care, but taking apart the popular belief about this ancient text is hilarious and please go on! ;-)

Why is this obvious between Josephus and Rev. 13:3 never discussed? Are atheists afraid of conceding that they are dealing with allegory? Judas nearly destroyed Judaism when he betrayed the "Word" by revealing the secrets hidden in Jewish allegory and modern scholars could do the same to Christianity if they would only turn their heads away from the shadows on the wall and look to see what is behind them. Here is another example of an allusion designed to provide context: “In the name of the Graces, what an almighty wise man Protagoras must have been! He spoke these things in a parable to the common herd, like you and me, but told the truth, his Truth, in secret to his own disciples.” (Plato's Theaetetus) "With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. 9:11 the point is you would rather let God supply your needs rather than something that will ultimately separate you from God so that's why people who sadly will take the mark of the beast won't get any slack because they could have trust in God or just not have taken the mark of the beast and try to find food themselves if they're able to.

There are only one group of people who are more confused than you (I'll get to them.). There is no one alive today that can understand something that was produced in a culture some 2000 years ago. Those more confused are those who declared that they have the supreme word of God and they were the only ones who knew their true meaning and, therefore, made a living from it. Oh, wait! Aren't you doing the same thing? The purpose of the "Word of God" is the education and elevation of the Human Soul in character/spiritual nature and is suited to the day/culture for which it appears.
