^This Joey is a really smart guy, people just don't understand his kind of clever. He even outsmarted the others several times. He just prefers to not always be a smartass & constantly trying to overshadow the others. Ross is often a smartass and it gets annoying. Chandler is a smartass all the time. Luckily for him, he pulls it off and it suits him. But it probably would get tiresome if the person you are with are constantly making sarcastic jokes about EVERYTHING. Don't get me started on the girls in the group. Nobody is perfect but as a friend, Joey probably does the best job out of the 6. And that requires a unique kind of smarts that few people have.

I can see both sides of the "exchanging a gift" argument. Rachel was right that it's better for her to exchange a gift she doesn't like for something that she does like and can actually use. But when you spend a lot of time and effort carefully picking out a gift for somebody you love, it can be very frustrating, disappointing, and hurtful to find out that the person exchanged it. The thing about Rachel is that she apparently exchanged EVERY gift she ever received. Phoebe said it was impossible to get her a gift she liked. I've known a few people like this, and I've often suspected that it's not really about genuinely not liking the gifts. It's more like ... Well, a number of things. It could be that the person just enjoys shopping and wants to take advantage of every opportunity to do it. It could be that the person just wants to pick out his or her own gifts rather than accept somebody else's. It might even just be a power trip. For some reason, the person could just enjoy rejecting gifts and getting new ones, thinking, "Now, this is what they SHOULD have gotten me!" If I was Rachel's friend, and I realized that she never keeps anything she gets as a gift, I would stop shopping for her gifts. I'd just give her a gift card or even a store credit and let her shop for herself. No point in going to the trouble of picking out a gift if it's just going to be exchanged anyway. Don't even bother to put it in an envelope or wrap it up, just hand it to her. If she complains that it's impersonal, remind her that she was the one who made it this way.

In an earlier episode, Ross said it would be okay for Rachel to exchange his gift, but in this episode, he acts shocked at the idea that Rachel would exchange something that he got her. Unfortunately, this happens in every television show. It's hard to keep everything perfectly consistent over a period of several years. Inevitably, there will be times when the events of one episode will directly contradict the events of another. Or, perhaps, when Ross said it'd be okay for Rachel to exchange the gift, he was only saying that to be kind, and he didn't think she'd really do it. It could also be that Ross was okay with Rachel exchanging one gift, or a few gifts, but he was taken aback when he found out that she'd exchanged ALL of the gifts he'd ever given her. "she keeps those that mean something to her" Uh, no, she doesn't. It was explicitly stated in this episode that Rachel exchanged EVERY gift she ever received. Phoebe said it was impossible to get her a gift she liked. That box of items that Rachel did keep, for sentimental reasons, included things like the ticket stub from the movie that she and Ross saw on their first date, an eggshell from the first time Ross made Rachel breakfast, and a dinosaur fragment from the museum where she and Ross first made love ... which, by the way, she really shouldn't have taken. But she never kept gifts. "Ross overreacted" This wasn't really about the gifts. Ross was angry because the presents he had given Rachel were tokens of his love for her. When he found out that Rachel exchanged them, Ross was hurt because he saw it as Rachel not caring about Ross's love or about their relationship. During dinner, Ross accused Rachel of not having any feelings, of being "devoid of sentiment." In response, Rachel showed Ross the box of items that she still had from the special moments of their relationship. It was then that Ross realized he'd jumped to an unfair conclusion about Rachel, and he apologized.

The producers first had to make sure Matthew Perry was not claustrophobic. Then they put a microphone in with him so the audience could hear him. His position in the box is not real comfortable, but he was ok. You have to remember that the episode is only 23 minutes long, and he wasn't in there the entire episode. Even with bloopers, he still would not have been in there too terribly long. He was young - he could take it.

For those of you that can't get what Rachel said to Ross after the Sunglasses ads: In Italian we say "Va**anculo" to insult someone. It can be literally translate into "go to do something in the ass" but really is the Italian for "f*ck off" or "f*ck you". Sometimes, when you don't want to be really tough, you can use the short version "vaffa" or "vaffanapoli" that sounds the same but you substitute "in the ass" with "naples" (that sounds similar). So it become "go to do something in Naples"'. Actually I thinks it's like "what the heck" instead of "wtf" Rachel said "vaffanapoli" and Joey is satisfied Put a thumbs up if you didn't know!

I was working in a department store one Christmas, and while I was ringing up a purchase, I asked the customer if she wanted a gift receipt. She asked, "Gift receipt? What's that?" I explained that a gift receipt is like a regular receipt, except it doesn't have the price on it. You give the gift receipt along with the gift, and the person can use it to exchange the gift for something else, if they want to.
