Sorry, I didnt mean to reply to your comment to like get more direct interraction, but it seemed to be the only way I could comment at all? Idk what's goin on. I usually watch youtube with adblock, but when I want to support folks I switch to the app so I can give their vids even more "interactions." But for some reason its nit ketging me just write a comment... Anyway, I just wanted to say, god bless you Leona. Your complaints throughout this video are not only entirely waranted, but also so genuine and validating. Every time I see some rando 3d print something they just take it off the printer and say "look its done! I put it together, doesng it look good?" And I always hold myself back from saying, "no, it looks like shit. You didnt even sand it or make it looks nice, it has print lines and no shading and blah blah blah," cause why would I want to kill that spirit? Theyll figure it out eventually. But, when I see someone who is so well versed in the craft making similar complaints about the way things are configured for 3d printed pieces with such genuine emotional frustration, it makes me so happy cause goddamn do I feel it man. Even the like calming yourself down, so real. It do be like that. Anyhow, despite all these struggles, the piece turned out beautifully and your work never disappoints. I wish I had like a thousand followers to show your work to to help your recognition in the craft grow even more, but im not half as strong as you to be able to be so honest and vulnerable for folks to scrutinize my own work. Maybe one day! But yeah, your work is amazing as always, and it has really inspired and helped me along the way. Im from no-wheres-ville, so folks here arent very artsy and dont always see its value. But I can tell from your work you put a lot of care and thought into it, so I feel less alone in that sense. Your work is lovely, you're lovely and funny to watch, and you inspire me all the time. Always a joy

Hi Leona!!! I totally understand your frustation. I've been working for 2 years as 3D specialist in an international 3D printing company in wich im responsible for ALL printers. Still: many times in printing fails, we just dont know why. ALSO as a woman, I totally understand how underestimated we are and how much disbelief we get to deal with. Your work is AMAZING. The one thing I'll make a suggestion on would be on the bending issue you have after curing some thin pieces. This usually happens with flexible resins, since they are designed to be more 'plastic like" and bend in case of falling, avoiding to break the piece. You could switch it for a rigid resin like phrozen aqua 8k, wich would make the supports much more stiff, sanding a bit more difficult and in case of falling, break. But i can guarantee in these parts there would be no bending. If you ever need any help with 3D printing or even supports for printing you can feel free to reach out to me, and I'll be more than happy to help as I can! You can find my email in my bio If you ever need it.

I love how you do black. Black is not as one dimensional as most people assume. Putting in those highlights makes it so much more like actual fabric! Black and Navy are some of the hardest colors to dye and not fade! They are also the some of the hardest colors to get consistently. You'd think with them being so dark it would be easy, but because your mixing so many colors to get that dark shade... yeah getting the same batch twice is near impossible even if you do it exactly the same! Also those Eyelashes! Absolutely amazing!

Hey Leona a tip for painting gold is to use reddish color as the base layer it makes it look warm and vibrant. This is a tip from Stephanie Pui-Mun Law’s Dreamscapes book page 97. I know that it’s for watercolor but I wanted to share this for any future projects you do that need gold accents if you don’t want to purchase other gold paint.

With all the trouble you ran into during this project, I am incredibly impressed that you saw it through! Frieren turned out beautifully, and even if she is not wholly up to your standards, maybe the mindset "perfect is the enemy of done" is applicable here. It's crazy that Elegoo still has these issues with the plates on their printers. They can't check that they're actually flat before they get sent out? A small change in process would make a huge difference in customer outcomes. My first machine was an Elegoo Saturn... with a plate that I had to wet sand with 3 grits, 2 different times, to get good adhesion and successful prints. I got a handful of prints off it, then a mosfet burned out and I had to replace the motherboard. They sent a replacement board that had the same exact issue straight out of the box. Ugh. No normal user should have to do this kind of troubleshooting to get results out of machines that are hundreds of dollars.

I’m glad you got a new machine that worked though and you realized you weren’t the problem!💜 And OH MY LORDDD I AGREE ON 3D PRINT KITS BEING SO BAD AT SECTIONING PARTS. I JUST GOT ONE THAT HAD THE CHEST AS ONE BIG PIECE WITH ALL THE TINY ACCESSORIES ATTACHED ITS AWFUL!! THESE MODELERS NEED KIT PAINTERS TO CHECK THEM FIRST 😫 (Also I relate to the awful postal service as well, US Mail service is just awful. I get stuff from Japan faster than stuff from a state over.)

I feel you so much, I had a printer that shall not be named that was so cursed I gave up on the stinky, sticky, fragile, toxic resin printing all together, it sits in my storage room of hobby shame. I have since switched to FDM which has its own issues and benifits. But that works for me as my projects tend to be some combination of mechanical and electronic and Fusion 360 if I am not being ADHD makes it easier to build with parameters that can be later tweaked when I find out yet again me and the world isn’t perfect. (Looking at you sound board for dogs project) It’s wonderful seeing a talented artist shine through!

I'm so sorry for your frustrations. I'm glad you stuck with it. My husband had issues with trying to get answers about our 3D printer. The only thing everyone kept saying was that he needed to lvl the bed. If he leveled it any more, it would have inverted this dimension. Come to find out, it was the bed temp was too cold. After trial and error and talking to a friend of ours that sat down and talked him through everything, problem solving and problem checking step by step fixed the issue. It was so frustrating, though. He actually got a, "uh, maybe if you don't understand the machine, you shouldn't be using it." from a random person. It sat in our garage for a month because he was so defeated. Thank you for always sharing your hardships and mistakes, it makes everything more relatable. And makes us feel a little less crazy or bad. So many content creators or artists ONLY show their perfections, never the steps to get to that perfection. It makes me feel so bad when I fail, when I'm only being human. Thank you. As always, you're the greatest, Resin Queen 💖

Btw regarding the small supports on the hair my advice would be to orientate the piece of hair on the build plate so that it points straight up, with the spot that connects to the head being at the bottom, and you connect a heavy duty support there. Then you hardly need ANY extra supports as it'll tightly grip to the build plate via that spot, and if placed on the pegs that slide into the head then you can just snip them off and still have the pegs for head insertion. In general I try to place heavy supports in areas that won't be visible, like the surfaces that connect onto other surfaces, those will do all the heavy lifting and only very thin supports need to be placed elsewhere, if at all.

Hey there! Sorry if you’ve already figured this out-I didn’t get a chance to watch the whole video. I’ve had similar issues with an Anycubic machine in the past, and a couple of things I tried really made a difference for me: I sanded the build plate (using 240-grit sandpaper in circular motions on a flat table). It felt a bit "illegal" to do this on an etched plate, but it helped a lot. To fix issues with layer lines, I removed the grease from the screw that moves the plate up and down and replaced it with high-quality automotive grease. I’ve also tried those stick-on magnetic plates, but unfortunately, they brought back problems for me. Another interesting trick I picked up somewhere on KZbin (though I can’t recall the exact source) is to spray PTFE spray on the FEP/vat sheet before filling it with resin. This reduces peel force and can make a big difference. Anyway, I hope some of these tips might come in handy for future troubleshooting! 😊 Cheers!

I don't know if it works for model kits but a tip for not having paint "bleed" under the masking take is to first paint whatever color is under or next to the area you'll paint first then paint the color you actually want in that area, don't know if that made any sense but I hope it helps someone
