Sense is a pacifists and her clone knows everything she does. So since the clones goal is to protect the dungeon, it doesnt have to fight the test takers to the death, just scare them into using their bottles.

Sense's clone seems to follow her passivist nature, though is still rather brutal, the clone could have killed Edel in that moment by aiming for her head but chose to instead deal a far less lethal blow albeit an extremely severe one.

It makes sense. Fern is able to fire spells faster than Frieren and might therefore be able to defeat her in a clash of spells. But as soon as Fieren gets out the big guns, she would easily overwhelm Fern. So the tactic they are going ho try is the only way I could see them succed.

The real difference is not the team, but the people financing the project, clearly whoever financed the Overlord project did not care as much about the series as the people who financed Frieren.

Keep in mind that this was a passion project. Keiichiro (the director) was so impressed by reading the first chapter of freiren that he wanted to animate this beautiful series to the best of his ability. Overlord on other hand was just another seasonal show for them. No offence. And director was also different.

The original plan of Sense is let the mirror demon clone her as the strongest body guard, and supposed to stay in the bottom room as the final boss. When Frerien comes in, the strongest choice switch to her clone, which cause Sense`s clone roaming free is an encounter moob-and that is pretty shxt for everyone. Practically like the Crowhead Macer in Fear and Hunger.
