If you notice, Jerry Dandridge looks like a vampire from centuries ago when he changes, as opposed to vampires in movies today that look rather artificial and too modern looking. Evil also appears ancient when he turned as well. This here is what makes Fright Night legendary and haunting.

Because Jerry was a vampire from centuries ago. He was 1000 years old alongside his twin sister Regine Dandridge and the strongest of their clan of flesh eaters. So it's only natural that his children those he infected and allowed to live would look as he and Regine did in their demonic form .

While it’s not particularly frightening, the film is great fun with believable characters (especially the wonderful acting of veteran Roddy McDowell), good makeup and prosthetics, and the director manages to mold the film into a tribute to those vampire films that came before it, without it becoming a gross parody. You know I saw Charley’s girlfriends as allegories for the two main female characters in Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Amy - Lucy Westerna, the pure and virtuous young woman who is at odds with an important decision regarding her relationship with a significant other but once she’s turned by a vampire she becomes a seductive but monstrous creature. Alexandra - Mina Harker, an educated and considerate young woman who is faithful to her significant other and goes out of her way to help him and assist the hunters in slaying the vampire.

Actually, this is more of a "cellar" than a basement, used predominantly for keeping wine and other goods. They make em like that a lot in New England, and some even have these wide shutter doors that open from the outside. Makes a bit of sense, as the basement would need a natural light source....vbut basically, it depends on the make and locality of the house.

Gotta love the irony that Jerry invited Mr. Vincent and Charlie to his home (using Amy as bait) with the intent of killing them and they killed him instead. After 1000 years of being an apostate of hell Jerry Dandridge finally faced his retribution battling two people he clearly underestimated.
@geraldburke51473 жыл бұрын
I always imagined his(Jerry) becoming a vampire was linked to his sister Regine. In Fright night 2, she does a sequence on Peter Vincent show, with fog, blood she transformation slowly into a monster. I always imagined that she was enacting the night she became a vampire. I see the story as.. She was the daughter of a minor noble spanish house long ago...her beauty, that she wore like a queen, was well known far and wide in their lands and beyond. So much so that she was stolen away from her home and family in the dead of night by something horrible and taken further into darkness. Her brother the heir apparent was a man of action and for love of his sister he sets out with all of his men at arms to pursue and recover his sister. The bother and his men followed for several day following tracks to a deep cave with a ravenous beast still clutching at the noble sister. In the ensuing battle all are slain except the brother Gerard D 'Andrge who continues to fight on dispite numerous wounds received.. Gerard kills the beast with fire, and is left mortally wounded for his struggle he then, with little strength left and life waiting Gerard frees his sister, who is now after so long bled and fed the creature is now turned like the beast. She embraces her dying brother and then feeds on her brother who in turn becomes like her...saving his life and damning it.. And that would be my back story for Regine and Jerry Dandridge But its not.. Sorry about the mess, I just really love the first and like the second film.
@michaeltruthson62623 жыл бұрын
@@geraldburke5147 😮😮😮😮 very good. However the Dandridge twins were quite amoral during their mortal existence thus their being chosen by their maker. Still your storyline is amazing.
@Shenruss3 жыл бұрын
@@geraldburke5147 Splendid work! Actually, you'd be _surprised_ at the backstory of the character; there were *Fright Night* comic books in the 80s which went into detail, indicating he and his siter were actually _born_ vampires, and are between 400 to 1000 years old. After his death in the movie, Dandridge's ashes are collected by the a group called _The Legion of the Endless Night,_ a powerful vampire coven, so that he can be reborn. In this 1985 version of the character, Dandrige is said to be over 1,000 years old and comes from a long-extinct vampire clan based in Europe; that would explain his "old world" looks and style. The 2011 version, played with less intimidating panache but more wise-ass, sadistic humor by Colin Ferrel, is said to be at least 400 years old and belongs to a similar extinct "breed" of vampire hailing from some unknown island in the Mediterranean Sea. Personally, while I don't think we need an update, I'd _love_ to see a film which explored either of these backstories, especially the first. Elements of _your_ story, like the name, could be used. Think of it.... We (the audience) would have "seen" the story as it was "read" from an old journal, and the camera pulls back to see a now 50 year old _Charlie Brewster_ as the reader, "Book ending" the movie! Charlie would have collected all this information through his post-university years; this is also the time that he and Peter would have trained to become real "hunters." After Peter's eventual death, Charlie would've obsessively searched for years, gathering allies, seeking data...basically doing everything he could to defend against any possible future attacks, due to the events of _Fright Night 2._ 50 year old Charlie would look a bit like John McClaine, not "super human", but kind of "kick-ass veteran good guy" who's been through hell. Oh, he'd have the home with Alexandra.... but it'd be this private, Gothic style manor house with high fences, dogs, traps, and decked out with "hidden-in-plain-sight" monster fighting gear. Naturally, Charlie would also have his kids Mike, Pete, Angel and Trev, _professionally trained_ in everything from weapon arts to survival tactics to QCQ to old folklore, and they'd _all_ know about their late God-Father's movies and adventures with their dad. Yeah, from childhood, Charlie would be prepping them for anything...so while professionally, he'd be a writer, or video game designer or some other well paid, eccentric job, in _reality,_ he'd be something of a "hidden guardian against vampires", and his family a kind of modern-day Belmonte Clan. And Charlie would *still* be worrying that _more_ of Jerry's clan/family would come for vengence after all these years...kind of like how in the _Seed of Chucky_ movies, we see a grown up Andy *still having weapons ready JUST IN CASE* Chucky ever came back. Well... THAT's Just a thought. Anyway, you can check out the comics online here: readcomiconline.li/Comic/Fright-Night

I think the 90s had some real winners too. The turn of the millennium was basically the end of good cinema. RIP

Society was different back then and it resonated with cinema. The economy was strong, The U.S. was heavily against communism, families and U.S. citizens stuck together. It's not like that today. Cinema, the job market, and the economy are globalized, everything is goibg overseas, U.S. pride is going down the drain, movies and music champion hating certain people and now familes are definitely being destroyed.😢

Major facts. Also studios pandering to woke B.S. didn’t help Hollywood films either.
