I'm 64, been a music follower all my life and having just returned to the UK from living abroad many years similarly discovered this band just a few weeks ago. I was surprised they are virtually unheard of in Europe, and then gutted to learn Scott's no longer with us. His musical legacy is however, and what a legacy it is.

There's a Banksy quote that I like. It goes, "Everyone dies twice. The first time when your body dies. The second time the last time someone thinks of you." (That's paraphrasing from memory) This is my first time hearing his music but with the talent he displays and then the emotion he provokes, his second death will still be many years from now, if ever.

This song is one of my fondest memories. I saw Frightened Rabbit live in Orlando in 2014 with my then-girlfriend (who herself is a magical being, gods bless her in all her future endeavors), and this was easily one of the best nights of my life. The band hit this song, and my partner and I danced like fools drunk with joy. Scott was on point that night. We, the world, lost a magical being when he decided to make his own exit. I'm crying right now for all the bittersweet associations this song unearths. Rest in peace, Scott. You're safe now. Nobody's gonna throw stones at your back where you are now. Swim on! We'll catch up with you in our own time.

I had to stop watching this video for the last 7+ years because it instantly reminds of the horrors I was escaping with it at that time. When every wretched day made death sound like a warm blanket. And I'd put this song on. And hear the words. And see the band. And the people dancing. And the lovely little lights that lit their dark room, the way it lit my dark room. And I'd tell myself to keep swimming. No sleep? Keep going. No escape? Keep surviving. All alone? Live to change it. Day after day. Every single day. For a year. To Scott and the boys and everyone who lifted a finger to help them do it... thank you for keeping me alive.

I was freezing cold and soaked at Leeds festival 2013 and i decided to walk into the nme stage/tent. This is my favorite FR video. In many parts of this he is looking directly into the camera and thereby you. As he is looking at you I’m thinking of what a talented singer he is, and such an amazing songwriter who has never touched my soul like anyone else has. And I think how healthy he looks. But then I think is he ok here? Is the depression here? Is he struggling? Is he ok? Is he running to his addictions? For some reason I’m thinking these things, whether it’s right or wrong, because he is looking directly at the camera/me. I’m thinking of the backwards walk. I’m thinking of the ticks and inconsistencies. I’m thinking of the winter of mixed drinks. I’m thinking of the will and a brick. I’m thinking of I’m in love with you and I can’t admit it yet. Thinking of it all. I hope you are at peace Scott. God Bless.

Are you a bag of sand? Swim until you can't see land Swim until you can't see land Swim until you can't see land Are you a man? Are you a bag of sand? The sea has seen my like before Though it's my first and perhaps last time Let's call me a baptist Call this a drowning of the past She is there on the shoreline Throwing stones at my back [Chorus] So I swim until you can't see land Swim until you can't see land Swim until you can't see land Are you a man? Are you a bag of sand? Swim until you can't see land Swim until you can't see land Swim until you can't see land Are you a man? Are you a bag of sand?
