I still remember being so disappointed that the first Mystery Dungeon special wasn’t the start of a new series I’ve would’ve watched the hell out of that. I wish we’ve gotten more of Chronicles I loved the episodes where we got to see what other characters are up to between seasons.

There are actually deleted scenes for The Legend of Thunder including the actual ending where she calls Jimmy on his PokéGear and they start dating soon after. 4Kids didn't do the Pokémon Crystal special justice with how heavily they edited it

I LOVED The Legend of Thunder growing up. It reminded me of the Pokemon Adventures Manga, which is the BEST non-game Pokemon media imo. Jimmy was a really likable protagonist and Typhlosion immediately became my favorite fire-type to this day.

You needed an anime to like a pokemon? Most kids picked Typhlosion because it was the coolest and Meganium gave the hardest challenge.

As a child i really loved Chronicles, to see what previous recurrent characters were doing while ash travelled Hoenn, it really helped fleshing out the kanto and jhoto extended cast and the pokemon world in general. I was dissapointed when diamond and pearl was comming to a close and there was no indication of a chronicles continuation following what the Hoenn cast was up to during Ash´s journey throught Sinnoh, talked about missed potential.

If I had to guess why it'd be because dp was alot more heavy and story driven with paul so they probbaly didn't want to divert attention from the main anime but idk. I guess just animation budget as chronicles does look great but I think it mainly uses assets from johto/early hoenn

It's very funny to me how you pointed out the time traveling thing. I think most shows state how time travel is usually a bad thing but Pokemon has done it a few times and it's always been for the better and that's just really funny.

Weird how they changed all the dub names in The Legend of Thunder. Ash battled Vincent in the league but he was named Jackson, when Jimmy and Marina were mentioned they were Yoshi and Dani, and when Ash met Eugene he was Eusine like in the games.

Pokemon Chronicles was important spinoff, mostly because it explained why Misty has her Gyrados as her main big hitter Water Pokemon especially in that Sun and Moon episode.

Not really. It didn’t matter because either way it worked. Ash and Brock were surprised because things do change when they’re away.

One thing that probably worked against Pokemon Chronicles logistically is that having it air in different countries may have been difficult contractually and in terms of scheduling. Now they can release these online and get around that.

I love chronicles! I first watched it on vacation after getting stung by jellyfish at the beach. I wish we got more but I'm glad Raikou got his own special. I will forever resent the mystery dungeon special for saying to be continued at the end and then never doing it

I love the idea that these animations acknowledge that the Pokemon franchise is over 25 years old. So people that played the games were teenagers at the time of the first release are now in there late 30s and might have kids of their own.

Man, there's so many amazing characters from the video games and for the TV show. I wish they can do more TV shows about them. I think it would be very good or a great series if they were done more episodes. To me. I think it's a wasted opportunity. Some of the new Pokémon stuff isn't very good. All these spinoffs and side stories just illustrate how much better Pokemon would be if it took itself seriously. Considering the average age of people playing pokemon games and watching the anime you'd think they'd have made a long running more serious series by now. Like adapting the Pokemon Adventures manga or something.

My biggest issue with Chronicles, and especially the Legend of Thunder special, is the incredible hack job 4kids did to it. For the most part, i feel 4kids did a decent job dubbing most of the anime, but the way that special was mangled was comparable to some other non-pokemon anime 4kids rather infamously butchered.
