Best honest and raw documentary yet. God chooses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. God has always had to choose flawed humans to do his will. Lonnie Frisbee’s anointing changed my life in the 70s. Glory be to God!

Thank you for telling Lonnie’s story. Lonnie was married and had a wife -- before they divorced. He was bi-sexual. He needed deliverance and healing - being sexually molested by his male baby sitter. Then all the drugs and parties. Thank God he got saved. Father God in heaven Fight for humanity. I ask in Jesus’s name. 🙏🏻 We don’t fight flesh and blood but evil dark spiritual forces. The battle is the Lord’s. If God be for us who can be against us.

Patty Bievins. It is vitally important to examine family of origin dynamics. He had childhood trauma and he never worked on recovery from the molestation. One must be discerning about ACES adult adverse experiences. He would not have succumbed to the temptation of having fallen into the bisexual lifestyle. He died of aids revealed by Greg Laurie the pastor that just spoke on another Christian channel. I’d never heard of him until listening to another Christian channel just today.

We are all flawed human beings, and we will always be. It's only by the grace of God through Christ that we are even justified. But as God's born-again believers, we are to walk in newness of the life that He has bestowed on us. We must let the world know that it is dying, and the fashion of this world will pass away. Only love will remain, and the one truth and the one love that can be understood, is Christ's, not the love that the world gives, which is the false love, and it will pass away along with it.

@jeph33 As a 3rd year student of a spirit filled Bible College, I'll respectfully & briefly explain... 1. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God (See Acts 2) 2. The religious spirit is an evil spirit. Yes, they do exist & it's not a joke. When Jesus walked the earth during His ministry... one-third of His ministry was casting evil spirits (demons) out of people. It was the Pharisees (not exclusively), who came against Jesus, hated Him & demanded that He be crucified. The Romans carried it out. The Pharisees were one of several religious groups...& in scripture, Jesus called them sons of the devil. In summary, it is true... a religious spirit is an evil spirit (a demon).

Thanks so much for posting this! I haven't been able to watch it in ages. Lonnie baptized me in the HS, and my dad did the narration, and now I can show the movie to my sons who my dad never had the chance to meet. It strikes me how much Lonnie's story is similar to that of countless women who were told that they can not preach or do miracles or lead - but the Holy Spirit worked through them to change the world, and they were able to say how can we resist the power of the Holy Spirit, or, as Margaret Fell said, who are we to attempt to limit the infinite power of God?

@@stonemagic540 It is even farther than that I think. Christians mostly Christian men have chosen Homophobia as the hill to die on while pleasantly pardoning heterosexuals adultery and other sins of the flesh. Why is this elevated above all others? This is a great documentary. I knew Lonnie but not well. I was a bit younger then him and I did not know about the gay issue. When I got older I became aware of my own sexual orientation and I have struggled with it ever since. I have been celibate for almost 39 years now and occasionally I still have gay dreams and some sane sex attraction. As a Christian I realize that this doesn’t go away in this life. Lonnie was as true to Christ as any Christian. We all have sin in our lives and we fall sometimes. Being gay is not a choice. Just like others sins such as envy, gossip, pride, etc., sinfulness is our continuing struggle. Thank God He walks with us, convicts us of sin, forgives us and helps us grow. I have such sadness for Lonnie , but I know he would be so happy that his ministry is being revealed widely and in a sense he is still ministering to many people through his life story.💕❤️🙏✝️

My dear sister... It appears that the 39 years of celibacy..., has been your choice, and with Holy Spirits help, the right choice. Cowardice, envy, pornography, gossip, jealousy, bitterness, and your struggle ARE INDEED COMMON . Like ALL, and apparently you, taking control of the SOUL, the 'personality' that has been hammered and led to..., by family, culture, & religion..., AND DAILY ACQUIESCING to the Spirit, and what the Spirit has codified in The Word, IS the habit that each believer must learn and grow in! After being born again, I Corinthians 6:11 IS TRUE. "And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." Ephesians 2:2-3 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience-among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. Ephesians 4:22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, Ephesians 5:8 for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light"

When I first learned about Lonnie through the trailor for "The Jesus Revolution" movie, I then looked up everything I could find on this lovely human being!!! I strongly agree he was not ministered to or helped to fight his own demons and struggles and for that I do feel these pastors and father figures... people he looked up to and would do anything for if asked...let him down and caused more confusion and pain in his heart and mind. I am sure Lonnie has forgiven them for they know not what they do....and I believe Chucks' remarks at the end of Lonnies service were misinterpreted. I may be wrong but my take from his words meant if someone else could have laid healing hands and prayers for the Holy Spirit to not only work through Lonnie but also work in him as He moved throughout this time in others... healing sickness and casting out demonic strongholds. It is all over and forgiven ...now he is with the Father and teacher that he always longed for! So much love and comfort and peace surround him for eternity. He is so very loved!!!

That was sometime during the late eighties-early nineties. I had no clue he was all that, considering I used to go to The Warehouse, a church affiliated with Calvary Chapel, around the late seventies-early eighties. The issue of homosexuality and the church’s response is troubling. The relationship between love and correction in ministry and life needs much prayer and God’s guidance. Jesus told the woman caught in adultery to ‘go, sin no more’ Jesus didn’t reject her, but he commanded her to change. That is the goal of love and correction. We are to be transformed in who we are, and in our practices. May God guide all us sinners, in whatever our sin, and May He grant Pastors and Teachers to love in knowledge and wisdom. praise Jesus.

You are so right no one should ever be turned away from church, let he who is without sin cast the first stone, we must have faith, Jesus has already overcome the world, have faith the faith we have as a child. We are instructed to love everyone even the wicked, bless those who curse us, Jesus with his Holy Spirit gives us a new heart that enables us to truly love everyone, he changes us one day at a time, helping us grow in mercy, mercy is key word here.

Amen to that, Josee. We gotta love & bless others, and follow Jesus' example. Which is also the perspective of almost all church leaders-the good ones. The flip side of that coin however, as presented by several of those interviewed in the film, is that we are not instructed to put those who curse us in positions of authority in our churches. Scripture provides specific details on the requirements of deacons and elders/pastors. That doesn't mean we don't LOVE those people, and pray for them.
@rebornasdavid

You clearly don't know or understand scripture when you speak like this. We absolutely are to throw a brother (someone who knows better) out of the church when they are in sin. Now was Lonnie dealt with correctly? I can't say cause I wasn't there. But scripture for certain says to do exactly this. Come as you are, but don't stay as you are. 1 Cor 5:1,5 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father's wife. you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord. 1 Cor 5:11 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler-not even to eat with such a one. 1 Timothy 3:10 And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. It's not casting judgement on someone to throw them out of the church if they are knowingly in sin. Because when they repent we will welcome them back in with open arms. But until that prodigal son repents, they are not welcome.

Thank you so much for this film! I found it profoundly moving. Lonnie was used by God in such an amazing way. I am looking forward to catching up with him in glory! As for the comments made towards the end by Pastor Chuck at his funeral while they may not have been completely inaccurate I do think they were insensitive and inappropriate at a funeral attended by his family, loved ones and closest friends,, I was aware of Lonnie's role in the Calvary Chapel movement but not in his involvement with John Wimber, which is interesting having been a Vineyard pastor for nearly 10 years, though in the UK. Anyhow thank you again for sharing this

Hi. 10 years. Wow. In a 2nd book which is credited to Lonnie and ? he details how he went to Africa and Europe, etc. Mainly from 78-82 With great detail of being hooked up w/Vineyard when it was little and splintered some from Calvary. But it was John Wimber. I don't know about the UK Amazon but in the U.S. the middle-2nd book is free w/Kindle and amazing, filled with tons of Vineyard commissions.

He was also there and the conduit for that moment when the Signs and Wonders Movement arrived at Fuller Seminary. I tried to write a paper on him and about his involvement with Calvary and Vineyard, years before this film came out, but Chuck and John wouldn't return my calls. I did not know at the time the reason why. (TBF to John, he was deathly ill at the time as well.)

I think Chuck Smith’s comments were the comments of a man who didn’t know Lonnie at all. His words were not God would say about Lonnie. Yes, Lonnie was a sinner, re repented and God would say, “Well done good and faithful servant”. No man has the right to judge another man or women! How many times have we heard a church leader judge others and find they have some private sin in their own life. It is easy for a man to look at another man or women and judge them. We as Christians have lost our first LOVE we first knew when we got saved. It is the same Love that started the Jesus movement. It was that love and acceptance the hippies longed for and people are hurting and craving for now. We need many Lonnie’s more than ever to turn this broken world upside down.

Honestly, I thought Lonnie was going to be a lot worse of a person when I started watching this video. He might not have been perfect in life or in preaching (some of his teachings and things he did was very wrong), but he was simply human - all flaws included. However, I respect that he got new Christian's feet wet in bringing them to Christ, The Lord, and The Spirit. Even after Lonnie passed, everyone could then choose their own path to explore and get to know Christ's sacrifice for our sins, the righteousness of the Father, and better understand the mystery of the powerful working hands of the Holy Ghost. Lonnie was all right. 👍

wow, what an incredible story. I understand so much more now about this type of sin and God's grace and mercy, thanks to this documentary. I think his story should be played on the big screen. It will help so many people who are gay, as much as those who are straight. Homosexualism is a sin. Just like it is lying and cheating, and adultery, etc. Sin is sin. But my God! I'm so thankful to a God who sent His Son to pay for our sins and I'm sure Lonnie and the likes were in that plan. We should never judge people because of their lifestyle. Jesus took time to sit with the woman at the well, even though He knew her life and who she was. Jesus knew us way before we were a thought in his mind, and still, He loved us and gave His life for us. I'm not a homosexual, but I know a lot of them, and I've never for a second thought whether when I wasn't a christian, nor after becoming one, that it was okay for me to judge them. I was not a homosexual, but i had other type of sins in my life which God forgave me for. And I'm so thankful I know a God who's loving and forgiving and is full of mercy and compassion. Something that the church and many christians lack.

There is such a great need for us to pray, seek God and be willing to reach out to our children, teens, 20-30's, to everyone who is being swept up in the lies and empty hope of being something, someone else, being caught up in the gender confusion and self hate, even sadly, self loathing that is such a lie from the pit of hell, and young kids are being targeted, being used toward what really they don't know about, and this is ultimately, Transhumanism. We need to show the love of Jesus to everyone, especially those who need to know they are made in the image of God and dearly loved. Not one of us is without sin, and we need to pray and ask Jesus to send the Holy Spirit to help all of us be light in the dark, be able to be used, not by our ability, power or might, but by the spirit of God, to come over every city, every nation and may we be a part of seeing God break through all the lies, deception, fear, for God to reveal his love and mercy through us and to everyone who is being deceived! I am not a leader or know how to do anything, especially not what is so needed right now, but I know I don't have to be, we just need to believe in our Lord Jesus who is the way truth and life, and ask for Jesus to send a fresh pouring out of the Holy Spirit to open people's eyes and ears, to convict and reveal Jesus and his love and life he's given so that we all can be forgiven, saved and made new people! Please pray with me, and let's believe that just as Jesus promised, he once again will send the Holy Spirit to fill us and lead us, use us to reach people now, for lives to be saved and made new, and God be glorified! For all the in our face evil going on today, we who have been saved, need to realize that out prayers and seeking God, to receive the power of God, through the Holy Spirit is greater, more powerful than the evil we have happening around us. Thank you for reading this all, and if you choose to pray with me, thank you, I just know God has been laying these things on my heart, and all I know to do right now is pray and have a heart for God to fill with the HS, and be available for his glory. ❤

Yes. Many of us fell away and ended up joining the conservative evangelical churches. When the JM ended, people looked around and didn't find anything, save those churches, and there was no where else to go.

Lonnie had such a childlike faith which enabled him to move in the gifts of the spirit which is awesome. Unfortunately those in the church seemed to want to control what was happening and that is why these moves of the spirit fizzle out eventually. Chuck needs to look at himself and realise that he had a part to play in bringing a fatherly love and restoration and healing to Lonnies heart who obviously had childhood issues that plagued him and were never dealt with. So I do hold Chuck partly responsible for Lonnies demise in the end. And that eulogy he gave was horrendous. It truly shows his own undealt with bitterness towards Lonnie.

@@ericblom9568 I suspect the problem with modern Christianity, particularly charismatic sect of Protestantism is a deviation from the protection of the early church authority. Though there were unquestionable manifestations of the Holy Spirit there was also apostolic order to set things straight when they got out of hand (e.g., Corinthian sectarianism and spiritual pride). Today the atmosphere seems to be a free for all - lacking discernment and authority (just my observation). I once attended a large Pentecostal church where the pastor (who was really a knowledgeable scholar in his own right and an excellent speaker/evangelist and very honorable) once encouraged the "unsaved' to take communion as a form of evangelization ( only happened at one service as i recall). The Apostles and other church leaders would never have allowed this as they kept the Eucharist a secret until the seeker was instructed in the "Way" and chose to become a believer and was immediately baptized. We live in strange times ever moving away from the original church.

Homosexuality is a sin. Its called a sin in both Old and New Testaments. But as Christians we hate the sin , but we love the sinner. A person can be saved out of the sin of homosexuality, and never go back to it. Its called THE PRAYER OF REPENTANCE AND FORGIVENESS, a turning around with Gods help, to never go back to a particular sin, ever again. Thats the Jesus Christ of the Bible, truly healing sin sickness. But we are to never make sin right or normal or good. That is blasphemy. As Scripture says "Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil".

Not sure in what spirit you are saying all this in. But even the worst sinner can repent on their death bed and be forgiven. ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:1‭-‬2‬ [1] “Judge not, that you be not judged. [2] For with the judgment you pronounce, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. We all sin and fall short of God’s glory. Even after being saved, we can mess up daily. God called King David, "A man after His own heart." Yet he committed many sins. God is a gracious God. Ready to forgive when we repent.

Check out the books written by Lonnie... In his own words on his death bed he denies ever identifying as homosexual. He confesses that he fell into the sin and backslid but it never became a part of his identity. He confesses that homosexuality is outright sin. I hesitate to regard the words of many (not all) of these men and women as truth or accurate accounts.

He also said the guy telling the Vineyard about the 6-month relationship had invaded his home, raped him and lied about it around the churches. I suspect many of those interviewed here never knew the truth.

Where in God’s word does it say, life as a Christian is an easy one? James 1:2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. James 1:3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. James 1:4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

just watched "jesus revolution" last night and enjoyed it. knew nothing of any of it. now watching this, i am so pleased and also disheartened to learn the story of lonnie frisbee. as a queer woman myself, i feel its the epitome of irony that anyone would call themselves a follower of jesus and judge anyone. if christianity as an institution, and christians as individuals, want to truly save as many people as possible, then they need to finally refrain from such self-righteousness as to deem someone else a sinner, since we are all sinners right? ..and focus instead on the divine mercy of jesus who forgives ALL of us and loves us unconditionally simply because thats who jesus is. the world is torn apart not because enough people aren't saved, but because too many are dividing the world with judgment instead of loving kindness and unity.

Some of these witnesses/friends are too young to be a witness of anything. I knew Lonnie since 1968. I would like to hear Lonnie's story...which we may never hear. All of these testimonies are extremely biased and self-preserving.

I have been a Christian for 47 years now. I have had ups and downs during that time. During the backsides no one was responsible for that but me. I've read some of these comments criticizing Chuck Smith and Calvary Chapel for not intervening in Lonnie's downward spiral and I think that is judgemental and unfair. Since we don't know to what extent they did reach out to him. Ultimately it is your responsibility to seek help. It is always available if you are open to receiving it. As for the people who are not walking with the Lord today? Are they any worse off from having that experience? When the bells and whistles and smoke clears from a spiritual movement. That is when following Jesus is most difficult. Revolutions are unsustainable and at some point the believer has to come back down 🎉🎉to earth and have the self discipline to do what is necessary to sustain their walk over the long hall, And that is where most people falter. But perhaps on their death beds, they will remember who they once put their faith in, and cry out to Jesus for forgiveness and mercy.
