You can find acini de Pepe at any Italian grocery store. Italian grocers are all over the place in St Louis. There is a neighborhood that is predominantly Italian in St Louis called the hill.

People this pasta" frog eye"salad, is really good. kids usually like it. I put the colored marshmallows in especially for Easter. It's also a great salad to take to BBQ potluck. 🐸🍍🥥🍊🐸

I have used cornstarch instead of flour. My son wouldn't eat this, because of the name. LOL! Memories of a very imaginative child...Israeli cous-cous works as well.

I grew up with some close to this instead of paste my grandma would use rice ,,Down home they called it glorified rice havent had that in years

I have just looked at this puddings origins, and it was invented by a member of the church of Latter Day Saints. Most countries call the pasta cous cous if people can’t find it under the Italian name. Not sure what cool whip is, but I think it is a bit like dream topping. Normally cous cous is a savoury thing not sweet.

This pasta is a bit different than couscous, we have both available at the store. Couscous is a bit smaller and irregular shaped, these are almost perfectly round. And cool whip is a non dairy whipped topping. ❤Jess

Andrew Coates if you can get cous cous that is what it is called outside the U.S. Not sure what cool whip is.

Orzo would work or couscous, cool whip is a non dairy whipped topping. Not sure what the equivalent would be in the UK. ❤Jess

Vicky Taylor Oh, thanks Vicky! I didn’t realize it was known as cous cous outside the US! However, even cous cous is not a common thing in Japan. Would probably need to make a trip to Tokyo or find a speciality international store. But thanks for the info!
