Very inspiring. Thanks for the positive outlook on something with such a poor prognosis. Please keep updating year to year, there are very few people that give updates this many years out. Thanks!

3 months in now still not walking without crunches. Next month I am getting the syndesmosis screw removed so hopefully will have more movement in the foot. Great to hear that you have recovered so well. All the best from rainy ireland.

Please be careful with your physio everyone. One year since my op and I have a calf strain, tendonitis from trying to progress. Setting me back 2 months 😑, so be patient and be careful. Even if your physio gives the go ahead to progress, take it slow and if you introduce something new, wait 3 days before going further. Add a rest day a week.

I am 14 months out from the same fracture and found your video. OMG what a relief to hear what you say. Is there any way I could correspond with you more directly?

@@LeBoof Thanks. But hey, would it be at all possible to correspond off of KZbin, perhaps by email or even phone? I would REALLY appreciate being able to discuss this in more detail. I don't know anyone else that has gone through this and I'm still in an emotional roller coaster.

I broke my ankle 6 months ago and went through a surgery as It was a Bimalleolar Fracture.. Now I am able to walk without limp but stiffness and little bit discomfort are there.. sometimes I also feel a bit pain.. I also have swelling.. Doctor told me it will improve gradually.. What is your suggestion as you have gone through the same.. Will it be completely normal or some level of discomfort will be always there? 😢
@LeBoofАй бұрын
Let me first start by saying I'm sorry you broke your ankle. In my experience I rarely have pain, or swelling anymore. But it did take a long while for me to stop consistently having both. As for normal yes I believe there is normal of not a new kind. For example I find walking on the beach very difficult as the sand moves under my feet and my foot with the hardware no longer adjust like before. But I can certainly do everything I did before. Some things like the sand I'm a bit slower on but nothing really stops me anymore. I hope you have an amazing recovery as I know how hard that part can be. Thanks for watching.

Hello. First off great series. Thanks for sharing. I'm a bit of the way in and headed to my first post op appointment in a couple days. I was wondering about how many post op appointments and how many therapy sessions you had to recover to where you are now. I realize everyone's path in this will be quite varied but as an engineer I like data and figures and plots. Thanks in advance. Doesn't have to be totally exact but just looking for perspective and example from someone who has walked the path I am walking.
@LeBoof2 жыл бұрын
Steven, I understand completely. I believe i had about 4 or 5 appointments after surgery. As for my physical therapy appointments I was going three times a week for probably about three months. But I stopped going because I moved to Florida. The rest of my therapy was just getting up and seeing if I could do something. It can be a difficult road but remember to try and stay positive, listen to your body and your doctors and you will rebound before you know it.

@@LeBoof thanks for the prompt reply. The other perspective question I would have would be stairs. I've heard mixed things. Going up is supposed to be easier than down. How are you finding them?
@LeBoof2 жыл бұрын
@@stevenreznick4394 I certainly find stairs can be challenging. But for me only when I've been stationary for a while. Like going to the movies for example. I do good going in, but after the movie I'm sluggish coming down till my foot gets in gear. But if I've been up and moving and need to walk a flight up or down I do great now.

Hi Lee. Not sure where this is going to end up in our conversation track but felt like sharing. My recovery has been fairly rapid. I was on the table on February 21 2022. It's now a bit into April and I'm weight baring as tolerated with no mandatory PT. I've been doing PT anyway as strength and balance are good. The trainer I'm working with is a martial artist who injured his back severely and 4 days later flew to a symposium in Dallas. Sounds foolish but shows resilience. Figure he can help me if he managed that. Anyway hope this sending finds you and your lady both well. Thanks again for sharing your experiences as you did. Makes it easier knowing others overcame similar.

Im 9 weeks out of surgery. Cast for 4 weeks then boot for 4. One week to go with that. What did dr have you do after the boot was removed? Icant imagine getting that foot into a sneaker

14 weeks since my break. In brace now and walking with and without cane. Question is that my hips hurt. They are sore. Dont know why. Did you have that? Maybe from stretches at PT

Hi and thank you for your question. No I don't recall ever really experiencing any hip pain with my break. Sorry I was not able to be more helpful.

I broke my ankle on Christmas day, a trimalleolar + fib and tib fracture. I got an orif on december 26th 2021 and to this day i feel like i will never be able to walk normaly again… my range of motion is ridiculously small, i am not able to walk up the stairs, still not able to put full weight on my „bad“ foot… sometimes i feel like i will never see the end of it. (Sorry for my english, i am french)

Trust me when I say I completely understand how you are feeling. But I believe that positive thoughts will help with your recovery. So much of my beginning was plagued with my mind feeling the same way as you do know. But once I set that aside I found that my recovery speed up tremendously. Hang in there my friend.

hope you are better! I also hope you did physiotherapy...I am 8 weeks out from bimalleolar surgery and today Is first day I am able to walk,,,I started physio 2 weeks ago though.....I am not walking perfectly but actually pretty well.....
@vegantrotteuse41652 жыл бұрын
@@user-wb2yv7ll9d don’t ask me… it has been 8 months now and i still have a poor range of motion… i go to physio twice a week. Now they think about taking out the screws and the plate to see if it changes something. I still have pain everyday and walk with a little limp and most of the time i still take one of my crush to support me. I don’t know if i will see the end of it…
@user-wb2yv7ll9d2 жыл бұрын
@@vegantrotteuse4165 Oh, no...I'm so sorry to hear that. I actually overdid it today and was overconfident because in the morning it was feeling great and I walked around outside with sneakers for the first time. Maybe more than I should have? I am feeing it now and of course I start to worry I screwed it up (no pun intended). I also have a significant amount of pain & discomfort throughout my body overall (I likely misused the crutches and the knee scooter). Hardware removal might not be a bad idea for you, from what I understand they also remove scar tissue once they go in. Don't give up hope. Even though we are not in the same exact predicament, I can very much imagine how hard it must be. Hang in there. ❤

Had my surgery done may 25th still non weight bearing… wondering how long it took you to walk without any support?
@LeBoof2 жыл бұрын
Seth I know that everyone is different. But it took me quite some time before I was walking without any support. I believe about 4 months in total. But that was also in stages, from a cast/ crutches, to a boot / occasionally crutches, to a knee scooter, and finally 100 percent walking. Again everyone is different and I've spoken to several that started walking almost immediately after. I believe there are several factors that make up how soon someone may start walking. So don't be hard on yourself. Just do what you can, try to push yourself when able, and remember you got this. Thanks for watching.
