Not really my place to say this, being that this is your video and all. But you really flew through these, it was really tough to get a good look. Would be cool to see a video where you pick maybe 25 photos and dig deep into what specifically you don't like and think what you did wrong. Still, takes balls to share old work. Kudos.

Hey Jared, thanks for this fascinating video on your artistic approach to photography back in 2004. It was clear you were learning your craft and evolving. Your work now is more mature in terms of lighting, color and composition. Your images feel authentic. This is an inspiring and educational video. Well done Jared!

Im a big fan of how photos come out on my 2007 Nikon D300, 12.3MP. Something about the sensors on the D300, D3, and D700 have a really almost filmy nostalgic feel to them. I'm often finding ding that my photos SOOC need very little editing. Makes the post process quick and easy.

You've gotten me feeling all kinds of self-conscious now. I've been practicing low light shots at local concerts and a lot of my photos look like yours from 2004. Especially the comment about 1/125 shutter. I practically live there at a concert and maybe step down to 1/80 or 1/60 to get some blur on drum sticks. What's wrong with 1/125?
@jamesonnorth3 жыл бұрын
You really need 1/320 or higher to freeze motion when shooting ambient. Blur is very easy to get at less than 1/250, and is especially noticeable on today's higher MP cameras. Noise is better than blur, you just have to nail the exposure, because ISO 6400+ doesn't have a lot of dynamic range on any camera.

The only thing I disagree with in this critique is the same thing I disagree with a lot when Jared talks about concert photography. The shots from the pit aren't "bad" or "boring." They idea - for me, anyway - is to capture moments that can make someone feel like they were there, like they were standing in that spot at that moment. It doesn't need to be some flashy pose or some trick angle. They just need to be good shots that people can tell what's going on. Would I rather shoot from the stage? Hell yeah, but 1) That's very rare for anyone shooting concerts and 2) that's not the view anyone else will have if they're in the audience. It's never going to share the "I was there" feeling because 99+% of people will NEVER have that view and they can't relate.

@@OzoneGamerStation Why do you (or the OP) follow the channel if you hate Polin as much as it appears you do? If Jared's a narcist, doesn't that make you a masochist for spending so much time on something you hate?
@OzoneGamerStation3 жыл бұрын
@@Bad_Wolf_Media No one stated that they hate Polin. That’s just assumptions coming from you. I follow this thread because I’m a very novice photographer that just wants some photography tips here and there from different people I follow. Also, I follow whoever I want to follow because that’s Im free to do so. No one is immune to criticism so the idea that no one should complain and not criticize is a little ridiculous. OP was a bit rude but I get his general message. Polin absolutely knows his stuff when it comes to photography but he definitely has an ego on him which can turn a lot of people off. My photography teacher back in high school actually doesn’t like his personality when I asked if he knows of Polin. All in all, it’s a comment and Polin unprofessionally responded by asking to explain his “cryptic fucking comment” which shows his personality of having an ego and being a little snobby.
